There are a few good choices in pet health care in Chillicothe, Ohio. Depending on what type of pet or animal needs you have, Tharp Animal Health Care might be the place for you.

Tharp Animal Health Care is a veterinary, grooming and kennel service station. Tharp Animal Health Care is for smaller pets as well as horses and farm animals. There is overnight or weekly boarding and care available even for large animals like horses.

Tharp Animal Health Care offers laser surgery as well as emergency care. Since you never know when an accident will occur, it is nice to know that someone is available. There is many customers that agree Dr. Thomas L. Tharp is a competent surgeon as well as a common pet care specialist.

Tharp Animal Health Care also does grooming. The groomers ask what type of cut that you prefer and also ask about the dog's personality before taking them in the back. They will tell you what time to come back and pick the pet up. Tharp Animal Health Care customers seem to be happy with the grooming done on various types dogs.

Unfortunately, I did not receive the communication that I desired from the groomer. Perhaps the groomer didn't appreciate the nasty condition of the dog. We took a knotted, stinky Cocker Spaniel rescue dog in to be groomed. The groomer did a good job at shampooing and shearing the knotty, dirty fur off of his body but the body wasn't properly cleaned after the shearing. We was not told about the sores the dog had along parts of his body nor was the large moles mentioned.

The staff was friendly and quickly got us in and out. The office seemed clean and the lobby had plenty of seats. The other customers were fun to talk to and everyone enjoyed showing off their pet.

The cost for grooming was only $40 and the price of puppy shots and first visit is only $70. Both costs are comparable to the rates of other local businesses. Tharp Animal Health Care accepts cash, Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards.

The Tharp Animal Clinic does not provide service to lizards or snakes though. In fact, there is no veterinarian in or around Chillicothe, Ohio that services these types of animals.

Tharp Animal Health Care is located at 391 Marietta Road, Chiillicothe, Ohio, only ΒΌ mile off Bridge Street and behind Lowes. The phone number is (740) 772-2226.

Ron I have found Dr. tharp to be the worst equine vet that I have ever used using in-humane twitching methods to restrain horses for dental work ( without sedation ) an un-willingness to discuss the problem in general and no discussing why he is doing what he is doing and an urgent need to leave and your left wondering and with a large bill

I just found the above review by Daisy Mae...I have had Tharp Animal Health Care treat my pets for 10 years and never had anything but fabulous treatment and grooming. If you were unhappy with any aspect I'm sure it would be corrected immediately if brought to the attention of the staff. Tharp Animal Health Care does treat exotics including snakes and lizards...

I have to say that I have had Dr. Thomas Tharp as our family vet since I was just a teenager, with my first dog, Snookie Bear (the most beautiful Husky on the planet).

Now that I'm 45 years old, Dr. Tharp is still my family vet. He has tended to my dogs, cats, ferrets, and most notably my sugar gliders (no other vet in Chillicothe has ever tended to sugar gliders, that I am aware of).

Dr. Tharp provides excellent care to all species. Of note, I had a Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix that other vets had said "she has to be put down". Dr. Tharp, quickly diagnosed her as an epileptic, and she lived a full two years. He saved her life. That was my little "Chili Bean". She took phenyl barbitol, twice daily, and she lived a good life under his care. I could go on, but if you are looking for an honest caring vet in the Chillicothe area, you would be hard-pressed to find a vet as wonderful as Dr. Tharp.
