Review of Thierry Mugler: Alien, Perfume for Women

Interesting scents sometimes have interesting names, and this is basically where Thierry Mugler: Alien falls in. At first I was not sure if I should love it or hate it, but I imagine this is the same conclusion most come to when inhaling Thierry Mugler Alien, for the first time. A love it, or hate it, there is no in between when it comes to this scent.

It starts off so bizarre, and I was nearly repulsed by it, as the first powerful note to hit me smelled like Vick's Vapor Rub. Thankfully this menthol like stench clears out leaving behind weird mixtures of what smelled like hamster bedding cedar wood chips, followed by grape juice and back to hamster chips and small notes of Vick's Vapor Rub.

Love it or hate it? I'm not sure at first. It's seriously too confusing for me to even place, but the more I smell it, the more I lean towards hating it.

Once the scent began to dry down, this repulsive scent hit me, and quickly was I able to determine where I had smelled it before. It's that same stench I get when I accidentally burn my hair with a cigarette, or straight iron. A smelly toxic burn of human hair.

I guess when you mix that with the other scents previously mentioned, easily this one can be called an alien, as it smells like nothing else in this world.

The Last:

Thierry Mugler: Alien, does last, and that is unfortunate because it stinks.

The Bottle:

Thierry Mugler: Alien is definitely worthy of keeping in a collection if your an avid collector of perfume bottles. Like their first release, Angel, Alien also has a bottle worthy of hogging up some counter real estate. It's a lovely deep purple in color, with a neat out of this world gem type shape to it. It is pretty, I can't lie, but the stink it gives off is pretty toxic.

Overall:

Too bad about the foul stench Alien has, because I had such high hopes for this one, and I loved the unique bottle shape it has going on. However I wouldn't buy it, and very glad I got to test a sample of it, because had I purchased this foul stench, I would have been pretty mad.
