Review of Time Travelers Collectibles in Berkley, MI

NoPNA
Time Travelers in Berkley, Michigan is one of the largest collectables stores in the United States. It is great place to pass the time looking through all of the nostalgic toys, comics, cards, and movie paraphernalia. Even though many collectable magazines consider this one of the top stores of its kind in the US, there are still significant drawbacks.

You will find hundreds of shelves that are filled with toys, comics, movie items, and magazines that will take you back to an area of your childhood that will make you smile for hours. Time Travelers is fairly large, and it could take hours to walk through and see everything.

A problem is that there is sometimes so much stuff that it is almost impossible to walk around in Time Travelers. It is frequent that one or two aisles might become completely blocked by clutter or boxes. This can make it frustrating when trying to find what you might want.

Also, many of the aisles and racks are very close together in Time Travelers. It is very difficult for some overweight people to walk through the store. It is also impossible for most people to walk next to each other through the store.

If you are confined to a wheel chair, do not even bother trying to go to Time Travelers. There is not a ramp, and even if there was, you would not be able to go down very many of the aisles in the store.

The prices are fairly reasonable on most of the items in the store. While some are very pricey, you have to realize that you are in a collectables store that is going to sell items at collector's prices. I have also seen many times where regular customers, or customers with large purchases have gotten a discount on what they want from the store.

Selling items to Time Travelers is an adventure in torture all to itself. First off, in most cases, only the owner will buy anything. If you are there when he is not, you will most likely be leaving with everything that you brought.

The owner will take great care in looking through your items. He will constantly be reminded of stories that he is reminded of by the items that you are hoping to sell. At first, he will appear very eager to take a look at your items unless you tell him that you are interested in selling them, not trading them.

In most cases, you will receive more for what you have if you are interested in trading. If you are interested in selling your items, get ready for a runaround.

The owner will often make you think that you are torturing him by telling him that you are not interested in a trade. I have seen him hem and haw for a few minutes as he tries to talk the person out of not wanting to trade.

He will then take the top items that you have, and put them to the side. The rest of the items will be scrutinized closer. The owner of Time Travelers has a habit of speaking negatively about your parting treasures. He will talk down about the items, and make you feel stupid for ever buying them in the first place. Someone who is not ready for this might leave the store crying in some cases.

I was there once when he told a woman that she should have never spent the money that she had on the junk that she brought in. He told her that dropping that money was the worst mistake that she had made. She started crying right there.

Al in all, I enjoy going to Time Travelers and spending an hour or so walking around to see all of the things that they have on the shelves. I have sold things there before, but will never do that again si8nce I do not want to deal with the frustration.

This review is pretty much on-target. I have been going there since I was a kid, and still visit there whenever I'm back home. The selection is great, and although the customer service usually leaves something to be desired, the owner and employees who work there really are nice people, if not a little ornery at times. The store has a great atmosphere and it's always fun navigating through the isles while being transported back to your childhood. Perhaps that's why the place is called Time Traveler's.
