Review of the Tioga Bistro in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania
The Tioga Bistro a Wonderful Small Town Cafe!
Tunkhannock, PA 18657
United States of America
When you walk into the Tioga Bistro the first thing you notice is the wonderful design of the restaurant. The décor in the Tioga Bistro is very modern with a touch of nature. This blend works perfectly for their mix of New York and Tunkhannock. They are featured on Ikeas website. I recommend to sit in the leather chairs rather than the cafeteria style, they are much more comfortable.
The Tioga Bistro offers a variety of soups, sandwiches and pastries. Sandwiches such as the Tunkhannock Turkey, my personal favorite, are simple consisting only of turkey, cranberry sauce and brie cheese. However, the simple things in life are often the best, and the quality of ingredients certainly makes their sandwiches wonderful. Their soups are some of the best that I've had in town, and their crab bisque is by far the best I've had north of Maryland. If you would like to sample this soup, and trust me you would, come in on a Friday. The Tioga Bistro has a local baker that makes all of their baked goods, and anyone who has this lady as a grandmother has some definite bragging rights. The tiramisu and coffee cake are to die for.
The food is moderately priced, and delicious. The only thing that could make it better are leftovers. Most restaurants now days offer unfinishable portions that leave you with a wonderful snack or lunch later. The Tioga Bistro only provides just enough for a lunch or light dinner without leftovers. If you are trying to watch your waistline like most everyone now days, you can appreciate the fact that you won't be devouring a third of your meal at 11:00pm. However, I am sure that there is a little glutton in all of us yearning for that doggie bag.
The service is another story. Their servers are friendly and I enjoy the ability to phone an order, walk up to the counter to get my coffee, or sit and enjoy full service. These options, however, make it difficult for the servers to function. At times you can be forgotten at your table, and you are not sure exactly who your server is with one person delivering your drinks and another food. If they had two people in charge of serving, one in charge of counter walk ups and being a barista and a fourth making sandwiches their service could be improved drastically.
The coffee is wonderful, and the Bistro often features a drink, which if they do I recommend you take their advice. The price beats the other coffee shops in town and so does the flavor. They definitely know how to steam their milk! They offer a variety of flavors that other restaurants do not have in Tunkhannock.
To learn more about the Tioga Bistro, including stories about how their sandwiches got their names, or to simply find out their specials for the day, visit their user friendly website http://www.tiogabistro.com/ .
The Tioga Bistro is a wonderful coffee shop, with a pleasant décor, and soups that are rich in flavor. Their baked goods rival even the most diligent grandmothers. If you are looking for a light lunch, or a place to catch up with friends the Tioga Bistro is the place to be.

Post a CommentI was tickled by this review as we vacationed in that area for years, camping at the Pa. Grand Canyon. We spent a few nights in Tioga and the immediate area, karaoking. Not sure if this place was one of them as it's been a few years. I love this area, I love Wellsboro, I just love EVERYTHING about this area.
