Review: Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways

A Fun Pool Game

Arthur Kirk
Too often you will find that pool games either aren't very entertaining or don't function how their manufacturer claims that they do. That is not the case though with the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways. This is a game that isn't overly completicated, but at the same point is a lot of fun. Swimways is the producer of the Toypedo Twister, and now they have a game you can play in the pool using their toypedos. You don't even have to own a Toypedo toy to use the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways. That is because the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways comes with four small seven inch toypedos which are designed with a football style.

Setup of the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways is very easy. Just unfold and unroll the scoring mat. This will float in your pool in a vertical orientation and allow you to try to target the toy football themed Toypedos through the holes in the target. The target for the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways has four different targets. There are two targets on each side of the playing area. The larger target on each side is worth three points, counting as a field goal in football terms. The smaller holes are "touchdowns" and are worth seven points each.

There are many different variations you can play using the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways. You can get tough and say that each player can only score on their own side of the scoring area, and the other side gives the points to their opponent. You can also play a little more relaxed scoring game based on distances. Float your scoring area of the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways and then set distances away that multiply your score. Give each player four throws on their turn from whichever distance they choose. Have four throws for each player count as a quarter, and play four quarters in the game. Whichever players has the most points at the end of the four quarters wins the game.

There are several things I really like about the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways. The first is that in floats in a vertical orientation as it should in the pool. The second is while it seems very simple from the rules it allows you to adjust rules to make up any variation you wish. The Toypedos move slow enough through the water that you can easily tell when they go through a scoring hole on the Toypedo Football Challenge by Swimways. The last feature I like is how the Toypedo Football Challenge scoring area rolls up and folds up to fit in the included carrying bag along with the Toypedos so no pieces are lost. At $20 this is a good pool game to purchase, if you can find it on sale it is a great choice as a pool game.
