About a week ago, I was at the grocery store picking up a couple things and decided I wanted some chewing gum (I still had a bad taste in my mouth from lunch). Since I'm not overly picky when it comes to an item like this, I figured I would just pick up the cheapest available brand. However, I saw something different, Trident Vitality Chewing Gum, and, even though it was a bit more expensive, decided to give that a try instead.
For those of you who have not seen this particular gum, it's basically gum with a bit more. For example, the variety I picked up, Awaken, has ginseng as one of the ingredients. I'm not exactly sure what the exact claims are (such as, is it really going to give me more energy), but I figured it was worth giving it a try; just because I've never been one to pass up a brand new chewing gum experience when given a chance.
I can honestly say I was not impressed with this gum.
Based on the description on the package, I was expecting this gum to be something different from the other brands and, given the price, anything less would be a disappointment. Unfortunately, this gum fell well short of expectations. I simply did not notice any difference, at least as far as flavor is concerned, in this gum when compared to plenty of other brands of gum. It tasted the exact same. In fact, I can think of a few brands that are half the price of this gum and offer just as much (if not more) flavor.
Oh, and I should mention, it didn't wake me up any more either; even when I ate more than one piece at a time.
Not only did this gum not taste any different than any other brands I've purchased (for less money) in the past, the flavor didn't last long at all. I was lucky if the taste lasted more than a couple of minutes and, to be perfectly honest, once the sugary flavor disappeared, this gum really wasn't that wonderful to chew.
Needless to say, I don't feel this product was worth spending extra money on. It wasn't the worst gum I have ever chewed but it definitely wasn't anything special and isn't worth buying if you have a cheaper option available to you. I know I have no intention of buying it again.
