Review of TV Show - Ghost Whisperer

It may sound corny, but I really like the television show "The Ghost Whisperer." I am a great believer in things unseen, and I love the concept of the main character, Melinda Gordon, being able to speak to the dead and help to get them to cross over into the light. There are many television shows that have a supernatural element to them, but this is one that the whole family can enjoy watching together.

I think everyone wants to believe in an afterlife, and shows like "The Ghost Whisperer" gives us hope that there really is something on the other side. The need is especially great in those who have lost a loved one. The stories are usually uplifting or heartwarming, and can sometimes even bring a tear to the eye. They can help us to realize we are not alone in our grief; many share our feelings of loss. The show also tries to depict the feelings of the one who has died as well. They are often shown as being surprised at what has happened and sometimes desperate to communicate their feelings to the ones who they have left behind.

The relationship between Melinda and her husband Jim may be idealized, but it has the framework for what I believe is a successful relationship. Each one values the other and the work that they do. They give each other time and space to work out problems and they are always there for each other when and if the problem becomes too much for one to handle. We may watch the show and think, "Oh sure," but I believe we are all secretly wishing we had the same kind of relationship. It isn't often we are privileged to see two people who truly love and respect each other portrayed on television.

Jennifer Love-Hewitt plays Melinda Gordon with a sweetness that is hard to resist. Much has been said about the fact that Miss Hewitt's breasts are prominent characters in the show, but I say, if you've got if flaunt it. She is a beautiful, young woman and there is nothing wrong with admiring the assets that nature saw fit to bless her with.

The show not only explores Melinda's relationship with her husband, but with the dead people that are seeking her assistance in conveying messages to the ones they've left behind. Many times in Melinda's past, she has been rejected or made to feel different because of her abilities. Her grandmother shared her gift, and while she lived, she tried to guide Melinda. But she died when Melinda was in her teens, and she doesn't seem to be quite over that loss yet.

"The Ghost Whisperer" is an enjoyable show that doesn't ask much from the viewer. You can be comfortable knowing you are going to see a program that is entertaining and fit for the entire family to view.
