Review of TV Show - The Winner

Seth MacFarlane is the young dynamo who created the hit animated sit-com, "The Family Guy." His new show is called "The Winner" and it airs on FOX-TV. It tells the story of a successful guy who reflects and looks back to the time when he was in his thirties and still living with his parents.

This young man is not only talented he's also a very lucky guy. He was born Seth Woodbury MacFarlane in the small town of Kent, Connecticut on October 26th, 1973 where he lived with his family and after high school, he eventually attended the Rhode Island School of Design where he studied animation. He often uses his New England brand of humor in his work and the foil of the main character is almost always an animal, usually the family pet.

Seth MacFarlane made a career for himself with major companies at a fairly early age. Cartoon Network when it was still Hanna-Barbera Productions, quickly hired him where he worked on series such as Johnny Bravo ("Hey pretty mama") and Cow and Chicken. He worked as a writer on the TV series "Jungle Cub" for Walt Disney Animations as well. By 1995 at the tender age of 22, he created "The Life of Larry." It was too bad the deal fell through, but in no time the head honchos at FOX had given him $50,000 for what would become "The Family Guy" in 1999. The Family Guy became an instant success, and quickly developed a cult-like following among teens and adults alike.

Yes, young Seth was and is a very lucky guy. But he wasn't finished yet. His biggest break came on September 11th, 2001. It was on that day he was supposed to be returning to Los Angeles after being a keynote speaker at his alma-mater in Rhode Island. There was a mix-up by his travel agent. He was told that his flight would be departing at 8:15 AM, but in reality, it had departed by 7:45 AM and he arrived at Boston Logan Airport, a scant few minutes after boarding had ended. He was told he would have to wait for the next flight.

I am sure in these moments, young Seth was probably fuming. He probably had places to go, people to see, and things to do. He was more than likely ready to fire his travel agent. We all know there is nothing worse than being stuck in an airport when you are on your way home.

One hour after American Airlines Flight 11 departed, at 8:45 AM, the flight that Seth should have been on, was hijacked by terrorists and was deliberately crashed into One World Trade Center which was the North Tower, in New York City. Everyone on board was killed as well as hundreds of others that day. Not our young Seth; within 20 minutes of the plane striking the World Trade Center, he was able to speak with his parents and tell them he was not on the flight and he was just fine. He said he thanked his travel agent for mixing up the departure time, or he would have been one of the casualties of that horrible day. Like I said, Seth MacFarlane is one very lucky guy.
