Now I was a little skeptical but the price compared to any medium priced set of pots and pans that you would purchase from a department store, about $175 for a set of 14 pieces. So I gave them a shot and figured if they worked half as well as the infomercial claimed I would still be ahead of the game. The grand total for the Ultrex set was just under $200 with shipping.
That was nearly 15 years ago for the first set and they are still going strong. The show some wear on the bottoms from things being stirred and flipped but they are holding their own. My second set of Ultrex cookware I purchased about 12 years ago. This set had offered some different sizes than I already had. The price was the same as my first set of Ultrex Cookware so I purchased that set as well. These ones are also still going strong.
I am not gentle on my Ultrex cookware by any means. I use metal utensils. I cut things in them. They have been washed by hand and in a dishwasher. They have stood up to the test of time and anything that I have been able to throw at them. I would recommend these pots and pans to anyone, but have recently learned that Innova, the company that makes Ultrex, recently went out of business. I have seen them available online at a few different retailers who must be selling out the last of their inventory.
Although I have read mostly great reviews of the Ultrex Cookware, I have seen a few that have not been so great. People have said that the non stick coating in their pans have started to flake and peel. This could be the cause for Innova's recent downfall, but I have never experienced anything of the sort.

Post a CommentIt's junk! the coating is coming off and HSN will not stand behind it. I paid $172.00 for this junk and can not cook with it.
Don't buy this cookware! I bought a lot of it from HSN in 2001. The cookware has not held up well at all, and I only used plastic utensils. The plastic parts are breaking down from heat stress and the non-stick coatings are flaking off. I just shipped my cookware to Innova in Iowa for replacement, as per the 55-year warranty, only to learn that the company is out of business.
do not buy this cookware, it looks great and works well for a while, then strange things like a leak in the side of you r favorite pan ruins the clean nice top of your glass cooktop and no one will stand behind a leaky pan, cause they are now out of business-- shame on them
The non-stick on my ultrex is all scratched up and flaked off! They sold Stainless steel utensels to use on your ultrex.
They misrepresented their product big time. They deserve to be out of business!
Great review. I purchased my Ultrex cookware in 1999. I haven't had any problems with the pots or pans sticking or peeling. Every once in a while I clean them with the Ultrex non-stick cleaner. I had a problem with the slow cooker. It took over 6 months for it to be replaced. I purchased a ktichen gadget set in 2000. The hand can opener broke a few years later. That was replaced in just under a year, but without the handles. My ice cream scoop just broke and I went to find the website and was surprised to find they went out of business.
Sounds like a good brand. I hear that they are out of business though? That would be too bad...
I was shocked to see that they've gone out of business and there is no longer coverage on their 50 year + warranty. Even HSN won't honor the warranty that they themselves pushed so much.
You are really good at reviews!
Wow - great review!
This is a terrific review. I need to buy some new cookware; I'll have to look into getting these.
