Review of Umberto, Roman Oil Serum

I have always gone back and forth between brands when it comes to hair care. Umberto Beverly Hills seems to be one of those brands though that I go back to time and time again. This time though I was after a serum to repair damaged hair, and when I came across Umberto Roman Oil Serum, I was intrigued.

I had been using Argan Oil to fix my dry brittle hair, and it was working like a charm. Now with Roman Oil in my face for under $10.00, I scooped it up and hoped for the best.

Besides just helping repair my hair, Umberto Roman Oil Serum promised to fix frizz, smooth the hair, add moisture and add shine. Like a combo of hair needs all rolled into one. I will be honest though, I was worried because this oil looked like it could truly grease my hair up, which I cannot stand. Shine is one thing, but grease is just disgusting, with a thick weighed down look that could create an instant bad hair day.

The serum itself looks like thick yellow vegetable oil, and in the bottle it has that same sort of consistency and texture about it. A turn off to the eye, but I was willing to give it a try.

It states you can use it both on damp hair before styling, and on dry hair as well. I used it in both ways.

On wet hair it smooths through hair easily, and spreads without an issue. During dry time though, there did not seem to be any changes in shine, frizz, or moisture levels. I went ahead and used some more on my dry hair, and immediately saw what the oil was capable of doing.

At first I worried because the area I placed the Roman Oil looked like I had rubbed a grease slick down the strand of hair. Thankfully it dried, and left behind a beautiful looking shimmering sheen, and the hair was not greasy or covered in a nasty residue. It felt like my hair, just smoother, and with a gorgeous high beam shine left behind.

Overall:

I absolutely love this serum. I got it on sale at Target for under $10.00, and it worked wonders at leaving my hair shiny and feeling like silk. I am not sure how well it has been doing on repairing split ends though, as they are still semi present, and I have been using this serum for awhile now.

The one thing I do not like about it, is that when you pump the oil out into your hand, it does feel like veggie oil, and it's a gross process at first. the results however are worth the issue.
