Review of Van Gogh Vodka: Flavored Vodkas to Rival All Others

Scott Kessman
Browse the shelves of any liquor store today, and you'll find them overflowing with all sorts of vodka, flavored and unflavored, premium and regular. But one particular vodka that stands out from the rest is Van Gogh vodka, available in Classic 80-proof and a large assortment of enticing, delicious flavors. This review of Van Gogh vodka is to inform those of you who enjoy flavored vodkas on the rocks or in mixed drinks that Van Gogh flavored vodkas are an amazing taste sensation that should not be ignored in favor of more familiar brands, such as Stoli, Smirnoff or Absolut.

The Van Gogh Vodka website proudly proclaims their brand of flavored vodkas to be the best in the world, and I heartily agree, having had the pleasure of tasting many of them.

Whereas many other brands of flavored vodka sometimes leave something to be desired, either being rather sweet, syrupy and thick, or harsh to swallow at times, Van Gogh Vodka possesses a bold, smooth quality, and the flavors are exceptional, easily rivaling anything else on the market. The flavor lineup is also impressive, and each flavor is bound to be an experience for your taste buds.

The Dutch Chocolate flavor and the Vanilla flavor are like liquid dessert, and fruit flavors such as Mango, Black Cherry, Pineapple and Melon, among many others, are exceptionally refreshing.

Particularly delightful are the Double Espresso flavor and the more eclectic flavors, such as Pomegranate, Acai-Bluberry, and Mojito Mint. Of course, with such a diverse selection of Van Gogh flavored vodkas, the cocktail possibilities are endless.

The Van Gogh Vodka website features hundreds of various recipes, dozens for each particular flavor. Other features of the website include a Podcast page and an entertainment section where you can browse Bar Cam videos and download MySpace themes and iTunes playlists.

Van Gogh vodka is pricier than more mainstream vodkas such as Smirnoff and Absolut, but not as expense as most premium vodkas, resting comfortably in the middle price range. A gift set is available at some liquor stores, which includes a full bottle of the Espresso flavor, and four small bottles of assorted flavors.

It will be difficult to find all the flavors at times, especially at bars and clubs, but most places now stock at least a few of the more common flavors of Van Gogh Vodka.

You're right about an excess of vodka. Nice article. I've seen Van Gogh brand around, but have never tried it. Thanks for the info.
