Review: Verizon FiOS

Wow, FiOS is Great!

K.M.
So, I switched from cable to Verizon FiOS a couple of days ago. Making the switch was a difficult choice because as we all know it's a pain in the tokas. Verizon FiOS is not in all parts of the lovely state of Rhode Island, but it is in Situate and as it turns out already wired in the duplex next door. How lucky!

After asking a dozen questions about the cost for 4 televisions boxes, phone and wireless internet I settled on the switch. It turns out that because I called during a promotion, that I get the whole package for $99 dollars a month for 24 months. Okay, so that doesn't suck. In addition to the set price, I also get $150 bucks for making the switch. You heard right, their paying me to use them! That's almost two free months and you can use the money any way you choose. Shopping, bill pay, whatever.

The technician was scheduled to come anywhere from 8 a.m., to 12 p.m. and showed up at 8:20 a.m. I already like them for not making me wait all day, which is the usual with any cable company. He was here until 11:30 a.m., and when he was done, I had hundreds of channels, including all the local channels, wireless internet and a dial tone. I got everything they promised.

The fiber optic television is awesome. The picture is phenomenal and I've always got a signal so my movies and shows don't stop in mid motion with the gust of wind. Also, the menu guide is easy to understand and operate. Wonderful. The telephone is also crystal clear and still rings as much as it did before the switch. (Good, but bad because the annoyer's are still calling) The wireless internet is fanticaliscious. I can now take my laptops to any part of the house and log on. (Technology, who knew?) Also, it doesn't matter how many computers you have, one modem signals them all! Its super fast connection speed makes the internet so easy to use, no more waiting for pages to load. No worries, unlike my previous provider whose internet was not so great.

So, can you tell how happy I am? Installation was free, tech support is free and the whole package is only $99 bucks a month, compared to the usual $175 with cable. FiOS is all it's cracked up to be and better. There are still "hidden" fees, but that's to be expected. All in all the services are worth every penny.

I used to feel as though I were being raped of my cash flow when it came time to pay my bill. Now I feel like their giving me money. If you're considering the switch and they offer it in your area, give it a whirl. You won't be disappointed, I promise. Happy FiOS to all!
