There are not too many veterinarians in this area so it's not like I have a lot of choice about where I take my cats, but I have some choice. Animal Medical Center of Ontario is more expensive than some of the other vets nearby, and it's more expensive than the vet my sister takes her cats to in another part of the state, too. But you know the saying about, you get what you pay for.
My partner once took one of his cats to another vet to be spayed, because it was cheaper. He felt the vet was unfriendly and downright rude at times. The vet did not offer the option of laser surgery, which Animal Medical Center does, which is less painful for animals and helps them recover faster. The vet also did not send my partner's cat home with pain medication, and the vets at Animal Medical Center always send them home with pain medication if they've had surgery or been injured. We pay more now, but we sure get more.
There are two vets at Animal Medical Center. Both do general veterinary medicine and general surgery. One also specializes in orthopedic surgery and the other also specializes in birds and exotic pets. Both seem very competent and seem to really love animals. Both have treated my cats and I'm comfortable with both. In addition to being good doctors, both are friendly and caring.
Animal Medical Center is open six days a week and open until 6:00 pm, so you can get Saturday or evening appointments if needed. I have almost always been able to get an appointment the same day I call if it's something even slightly serious or urgent.
Animal Medical Center also offers overnight boarding and daytime doggie daycare, though I have never used those services. I needed to board one of my cats someplace once but chose another boarder because Animal Medical Center keeps cats they are boarding in very small cages in a very small room, and I didn't think it would be very comfortable for her.
