Review of Vincent's Italian Restaurant in Afton, New York

Afton, NY is a very small town/village with a population of about 3000. There is not much to do but they have one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. Vincent's Italian Restaurant on Main Street is a family owned business, the owner originally from New York City. He knows his Italian food and brought it to the small town of Afton to share with the rest of New York State.

I am a resident of Afton and have frequented Vincent's since I was a kid. They used to have an open window where you could order food from the street. Then they expanded and had a small dining area. Recently, they bought the store that closed next door and their dining hall grew yet again. All of this is proof that Vincent's is a profitable business.

There are a number of reasons why:

-The atmosphere is wonderful.

The entire restaurant is decorated with pictures and maps of Italy, statues with vines draped around them, and mood lighting. The back wall in the newer dining hall is brick and adds a dark ambiance to the entire room. Although many could claim that the decorations go overboard with the Italian flair, they do manage to put you in the Italian mood and make you feel you are no longer in a small town in New York.

-The people are friendly and helpful.

Afton is a small town and I will brag that small towns have the nicest people. If you are ordering take-out, the person operating the oven will be fast and helpful and you might get to converse with Vincent himself as he sometimes works the oven at the front. If you are eating in, the servers are always smiling and very friendly. One time a server accidentally made a large pizza for us when we had ordered a medium. She laughed with us about it and told us to enjoy the extra food.

-The number one reason why Vincent's does so well in a small town is the food.

People come from all over the Southern Tier of New York to enjoy Vincent's pizza. They have many kinds of pizza to enjoy and every bite of it is delicious. There are pizza parlors all over the place, but Vincent's is a cut above the rest. The slices are big, the foldable kind, and the toppings are always fresh. Every bit of the pizza you order will be devoured in no time.

Their pastas are also wonderful. Whether you want spaghetti or fettuccine, ravioli or manicotti, you will not be disappointed with what you find on your plate once it is delivered to you. The portions are perfect, they fill you up but you still have some left over to take home and enjoy later.

And do not forget the garlic knots. These delicious bits will have you licking your fingers clean to not miss a bit of the flavor.

Yes, I am a resident of Afton so you might think that this review is bias. However, that is not true. I could name a number of local restaurants that are lacking. Vincent's Italian Restaurant is just one of those places that stand out among the rest, and I am glad that they found a place in my small town so I can enjoy it on a regular basis.

The next time you are trying to think of a new place to eat and you are in the mood for Italian cuisine, then hop in the car and take the drive to Afton, NY. It is worth the drive to be able to enjoy and experience Vincent's Italian Restaurant.
