Review of Vonage Telephone Service

I used to believe that the former SBC, currently ATT was the best phone service for the price. I was immensely wrong. First of all my bill with SBC was always over $90 with local and unlimited long distance. That was of course with the additional charges including tax, fees, and caller identification. First of all in order to even get phone service with SBC you have to pay a deposit, which is usually every bit of $200. They require that you pay two months service before they will even come turn your phone on. Vonage is completely different. You do have to buy the phone adaptor with router, and the lowest priced one is $50 before tax and shipping. That is still a heck of a lot cheaper than with SBC. You also have to have high speed internet. It doesn't matter if you have DSL, Cable, or Satellite internet as long as it's fast. They suggest a speed of 90 Kbps or better. What Vonage basically does is transmit your voice (phone calls) over the internet connection. This does not tie up your internet when you are on the phone, just like it doesn't tie up your phone when you are on the internet. This process is called VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol.

I signed up for the residential premium unlimited plan because I live in one town and most of my family and other people I talk to live in different towns. I need the unlimited long distance. This plan is only $24.99 and you get a bunch of bonuses for free. You get the added features of Voicemail, three way calling, call waiting, call forwarding, caller identification with name, and call return. These are all for free; I used to have to pay $30 a month for these great services through SBC. Vonage also gives you a money back guarantee. You can also keep your own phone number when you switch, but the process takes longer. I signed up for a new number just to get the service started sooner. Right now you can also try one month for free. This is a great bonus because you are still out less money than if you signed up with another company. I pay barely over $30 every month. That is a savings of $60 a month and $720 a year! Can you believe it?

If I were you and had broadband internet, I would go to Vonage today and sign up. You will definitely be a believer after just a shot time. This company is absolutely the best in the business. If you would like to check out Vonage, click here.

  • Saving at least $200 by Vonage7/26/2009

I used to spend at least $300 a month on phone cards calling back home. I am originally from an African country, now US citizen. Anyway, i used to buy $5 or $10 phone cards to call back home and it added up so quickly, A friend of mine told me about vonage and told me that i can use it anywhere I can have internet connection,so I signed up for a Dsl service at my mom and dad's house in africa and shipped my vonage router. Since then, I pay $32 to vonage + about $25 for the internet service (I send the money to my mom) and that's it. This allow me to call my parents any time unlimited and to receive unlimited phone calls from them. my parents can call any phone number in the US, canada, and fixes in France(many relatives), Spain (My brother)... Vonage saves me at least $200 a month or at least $2400 a year. I will never, I say never cancel my vonage subscription. this is great, I don't call vonage customer service number they don't call me, all I care about is a clear phone line to talk
