Review of the Vtech Vsmile Learning System

Best Game System for Your Child

Mary Lynn
The best toys to buy your child is something that challenges their mind. When I saw the Vtech Vsmile Learning System console I was very intrigued. It is a system that seems to add fun to learning all the skills that you could want to teach your child and was affordable at $39.96 at Wal-Mart. It is recommended for ages 3-7.

The Vtech Vsmile Learning System console comes with one game called "Alphabet Park", a joystick with writing pen, and a microphone. The system also comes with the cables to connect the system to the T.V. There are two options for power, 4 "AA" batteries or a 9 volt AC/DC power cord. You also will notice that on the top of the unit there is a small storage compartment where you can store your games. It is very compact and does not require much space.

There are a wide variety of games that you can buy separately for around $15.00. They have them broken down by age group and they have specific skills listed on the package that each game teaches. The games all have two separate play functions. First, The Learning Zone is perfect to learn skills individually and then the Learning Adventure is in video game style that sends your kids on a exercise through the game using skills to advance to the next level, such as fill in the alphabet or math problems.

I like the Vtech Vsmile Learning System because there is a learning purpose behind the video games and not games that offer a lot of blood and glory violence like the bigger game systems offer. A friend of mine that is a teacher also has purchased one to have at the school for activity time in her class. What better way to sit down and have some learning fun with your child and have a learning tool there to do so. The Joystick comes with a pen that you use to play the game or in the learning zone use it to trace letters, which will help with handwriting skills.

The only complaint that I have is the system is very touchy and if your child pulls out the game before they turn the system off , the system has to be reset by pulling the power cord or batteries out. Other than that, It is well worth your money. They also have a handheld version of the console that uses the same games that the console do. I would have to say that out of 10 stars I would have to give it 8 stars.
