Review Of Waggin' Brand Chicken Jerky Tenders for Dogs

My Dog Will Dance for One of These All-chicken Treats!

REFugate
Bourbon, the Shih-Tzu, isn't very much into snacks; he gets bored easily and just when I think I've found a great snack for him, bingo, he won't eat them anymore! My neighbor's dog, Wriggley, inherits all of Bourbon's rejects and she's getting a little bit chunky because she's not picky!

A couple of weeks ago, a trip to Costco Wholesale resulted in the discovery of a new doggie treat product, called "Chicken Jerky Tenders", manufactured by Adi Pet, Inc.

What caught my attention about these snacks was the simplicity of the product: "Premium chicken breast fillet and natural-flavorings." The information on the package claims the contents in the two-and a half pound bag are made from 10 lbs of fresh chicken!

Costco carries the 2.5 lbs bag, "Stay Fresh Pouch" ("stay-fresh" resealable bag) and the price is $11.99. Okay, a little pricey, but compared to other well-known pet snacks, it's not a bad price for a big bag of natural treats.

Taste Test:

When we got home, we offered Bourbon a piece of Jerky Tender and as usual when given a snack, Bourbon took it, ran off with it, flipped it around a few times, barked at it a couple of times while wagging his tail and then settled down to chew on it! Okay, that's his normal "snack" behavior, and one would think, "wow, he really loves the stuff," but actually, it doesn't mean anything of the sort, and we just had to continue the taste test in the days ahead to see if he really liked the Jerky Tenders.

Time Test:

Now, I'll have to say these Jerky Tenders are different... they smell good and have a very stiff, chewy texture, along with a pleasant chicken scent and caramel color. Like most dogs, Bourbon is no exception and he adores chicken, and he loves these snacks so much that I'm now teaching him how to dance (well, you know, get up on his hind legs and turn a couple of times) in anticipation of getting one of these snacks.

It has been two months now, and he hasn't rejected one... this is good sign... I don't believe Wriggley will be inheriting these Jerky Tenders!

Feeding Guidelines:

The package instructions state: "tear the Chicken Jerky Tenders into bite size pieces, so your pet can fully enjoy the taste he or she loves"! I'm a bit generous, and give Bourbon half a strip and it takes him about five minutes to chew it. To activate the scent, I run it under the faucet for a couple of seconds and then it's up for grabs!

Ingredients:

In case you didn't read it in the previous paragraphs, the product is all natural and there are only two ingredients: chicken breast fillet and natural flavorings!

Guaranteed Analysis:

Crude Protein: Min 70.0%

Crude Fat - Min 1.0% - Max 3.0%

Crude Fiber - Max 0.3%

Moisture- Max 14.0%

Salt - Max 0.3%

My feelings about this product:

As you can see by the list of ingredients and the Guaranteed Analysis, these Jerky Tenders are high in protein, low in fat (97% fat free), and my dog absolutely loves them! I feel good about giving my dog a chewy snack that is not full of preservatives and animal-by products. I taste-tested a little piece of the jerky and, you know what... it tastes good!

Price:

As stated above, I paid $8.95 per bag, but today, when searching this product on the Internet, it showed a couple of very popular websites selling it from $21.00 to $25.99 + shipping and handling... this is for the same size bag I purchased for less than $10.00! Unreal!
