The heel softener is sold in a tiny blue .5 ounce jar. The ingredients include emu oil, lecithin, glycerin, soybean oil, lanolin, beeswax, papaya enzymes, BHA, BHT, and fragrance. The softener is an oily consistency resembling the consistency of lip balm.
Walgreens Cracked Heel Skin Softener Review - Physical Characteristics
Upon first opening the tiny jar, I was curious what a health product using emu oil would look, feel, and smell like. The product is actually a citrus orange-yellow color and has a very oily and balmy sort of consistency. Unlike a lotion, the first application of Walgreen Cracked Heel repair involves digging into the jar to get a decent amount started to work into your heels. The topical medicine also emits a surprisingly pleasant odor. I would assume this is a combination of the papaya and fragrances. The strong orange color of this product warrants wearing a dark color sock after application.
Walgreens Cracked Heel Skin Softener Review - Price
The trip down the foot care aisle at Walgreens led to some large price variances amongst the competing brands of cracked heel medicines. Prices ranged from $3.99 upwards to $20.00 for cracked and dried feet remedies. I went with the cheapest offering which is the Walgreens brand offered at $3.99. I was not only concerned about keeping costs low, but I also wanted to not have a large quantity of the stuff sitting in the medicine cabinet in the event it does not work.
Walgreens Cracked Heel Skin Softener Review - Effectiveness on damaged feet
My feet undergo serious strain from my daily commute to and from work. Adding to the foot abuse is occasional jogs and walking the golf course to get some extra exercise in. The day to day drag on feet creates the environment for dryness and deep cracks in the heel and arches. Where moisturizers failed, I believe I may have found an answer with Walgreens brand Cracked heel skin softener. The day I purchased the product I washed and dried my feet and applied a generous amount of this to my achy feet and put on a pair of dark socks before going to bed. I awoke the next day to dry cracked feet, but noticed certain areas around the deep cracks were starting to smooth out. It was upon fifth day of applying this product have the cracks been pretty much eliminated. I am sure if I had applied this product morning and evening as instructed I would have possibly smoothed the cracks in much quicker time. Overall I am pleased with the results given the fact I only spent about four dollars and the oil is pleasant smelling unlike other topical medicines. I will most likely purchase another tiny tub of this product to have on hand to maintain the feel from returning to their catastrophically dry and cracked condition.
Cracked heel problems affect a significant slice of the population. The causes of cracked heals are attributed to a variety of issues. The treatments of soothing dry and cracked heals include several over the counter oils, creams, and ointments. I am another representative of this population that suffers from dry cracked heels. I wandered into the local Walgreens and decided to try Walgreens Cracked Heel Softener for my achy feet.
