Review: Walk the Line Liquid Eyeliner by Hard Candy

In the fall of 2009 Hard Candy cosmetics came out with a revamped version of the Hard Candy line that use to be sold at Sephora. Hard Candy was once owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy but sold to another company. It's also the sister brand to Urban Decay cosmetics. This avant-garde cosmetic line is currently sold exclusively in Wal-Mart stores. Around October of 2009 I had seen Hard Candy displays being put up in my local Wal-Marts. What got my attention were the bright colors and artsy designs, but I just assumed it was another one of those brands targeting tweens. When Hard Candy products were finally put on the shelf I was surprised at how nice the products actually looked but unsure of the quality, so I did some research before spending any of my money on them. One product that I decided to try out was their liquid eyeliner, Walk the Line.

What I liked about Hard Candy's Walk the Line liquid eyeliner was that it was very much drugstore prices, costing just $5. It's also obviously an easy product to find since it's sold at Wal-Mart, and Wal-Mart is pretty much everywhere in the US. Although I got it in black, Hard Candy's Walk the line eyeliner does come in several other fun colors. The biggest selling factor for me was that this liquid eyeliner was waterproof. I've bought drugstore liquid eyeliners by other brands before that were suppose to be waterproof but wasn't, or at least not a very good one. I was a little hesitant about trying it on my eyelids though because I had heard that it was near impossible to wash off, but I sucked it up and tried it. Two words: Loved it! Not only was Hard Candy's Walk the line liquid eyeliner waterproof but it also didn't smudge, smeared or flaked. No more checking the mirror every twenty minutes to make sure my eyeliner didn't rub off onto my upper eyelids, and no more reapplying. But like I said, I was worried about being able to get it off without pulling on the delicate skin of my eyelids. Once again I was very happy with the results. I didn't even use an oil based makeup remover, just my usual Almay eye makeup remover and it came off fairly easy. I didn't have to scrub at all. I'm glad I didn't listen to that one review and took a chance on this liquid eyeliner.

There were several other things that I liked about Hard Candy's Walk the Line liquid eyeliner. I liked that it lasted all day and didn't irritate my skin. I also liked the cute, artsy packaging it came in. This liquid eyeliner doesn't come with a felt tip brush, which is what I'm use to and tend to prefer. Instead it came with an applicator that was actually a thin eyeliner brush. I was worried I wouldn't be able to control it as well as the stiff felt tipped ones, but once again I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't mess up once, and was able to get a good dark line on my first attempt. It went on very smoothly and evenly too.

Aside from only being available at Wal-Mart right now, I can't think of anything negative to say about Hard Candy's Walk the Line liquid eyeliner. I absolutely love this eyeliner, and it's become one of my favorite products. I would definitely purchase this liquid eyeliner again, and recommend it to anyone looking for a good liquid eyeliner for an affordable price.
