You won't be disappointed when you open the box and see the rich butter color. They look like a top quality shortbread cookie. Each shortbread finger even has the feel of one. They have a perfect texture. Each shortbread finger has 13 holes on the top side as if the baker used a fork on the shortbread finger to in some way enhance the flavor at some point in the baking process. It also adds to the visual appeal.
The shortbread fingers have a strong buttery taste with no greasy or acidic after taste. They have a perfectly crunchy texture but not crumbly and are sweet to the taste but not sugary. The Walkers Traditional Pure Butter Shortbread triangle, the lady finger, and the round cookie each have an extremely slight variation in taste. I think that he shape of the shortbread is responsible for this. I do eat a lot of Walkers Shortbread and other brands and I think the subtle difference is real. All the shapes are delicious, I just think all the shapes are ever so slightly different in butteriness and texture, although they all are made from the same family recipe which is over 100 years old. Walkers is better than anything I've tasted.
Each 5.3 .oz box of Walkers Traditional Pure Butter Shortbread contains 8 thick attractive rectangular fingers. It's red tartan packaging, which carries a guarantee of only the finest natural ingredients with no artificial flavorings, colors, or additives, sets it apart from other butter cookies. Walkers Traditional Shortbread also comes in different box sizes and in different shapes. Whether it's for dipping in your favorite coffee, or as a base for perhaps a chocolate mousse spread one of these varieties be a perfect match for your purpose. Try them with Yorkshire tea for an English variation.
Walkers Traditional Pure Butter Shortbread is suitable for vegetarians and certified Kosher. You can find it in most grocery stores, ususally $3.75 - $3.99.
Highly recommended.
