I was at Wal-mart Friday evening and, while I was in the freezer section picking out a few items for breakfast Saturday morning (my wife actually had a Saturday off for a change), I decided to check to see if I could find some other deals.
I was actually on my way to the pizza section when I passed something a bit different (or, at least I hadn't seen it there before), frozen bacon cheeseburgers from Wal-mart's Great Value brand. The box had two cheeseburgers inside it and, even though it was a bit pricier than I would expect something like that to run (around $4), I decided to pick up this item for lunch the next day.
I have had other items from the Great Value brand in the past and have found items I loved and other items that just weren't that good. This item fell somewhere in between; I didn't hate it but I'm not convinced it was worth the money I spent on it either.
My wife and I had these for lunch as planned (though a little later in the day because we were rearranging bedrooms) and, as far as convenience goes, I have no complaints. We just had to open one end of the plastic wrapper and microwave the bacon cheeseburger inside; something that took a total of a couple minutes.
The bacon cheeseburgers also proved to be pretty filling. Even without having anything to go with them (other than a pickle), I was pretty full from mine and it stayed with me throughout the rest of the afternoon.
However, when it came to quality, this product left a lot to be desired. It wasn't bad. But, it also wasn't any better than a half dozen other frozen burgers I could have purchased for about half the price. Yes, unlike the other burgers, this burger had bacon. But, the bacon was paper thin (you could see through it) and really didn't add much to the flavor. In other words, while I love bacon cheeseburgers normally, I did not love this one.
Had this product been about $1 less in price, I probably would recommend it as something to buy if you are looking for a quick lunch and don't necessarily care about overall quality. But, at the current price, I don't feel this is a product that is worth buying. Save your money and buy a cheaper brand instead.
