Wells Fargo offers many of the services that other banks offer. Of course, they have a number of checking and savings accounts to choose from. They have free checking and even a checking account for college students. Unfortunately, Wells Fargo has some fees that you have to look for in the fine print. One that comes to mind is the $3.00 monthly maintenance fee that is taken from your savings account if your savings account balance falls below $300.00. Now, I got a free savings account when I signed up for the college checking and free checking combo. At the time I was in school, I did not have enough money to put into savings so I really had no use for the savings account. When I did start making more money, I opened a savings account with an online bank that offered a higher interest rate. It turns out that Wells Fargo offered just 0.05% APY on their savings account. Why keep savings in an account that gives no interest? Not to mention, their checking accounts offer no interest while several banks do.
Wells Fargo also offers credit cards. As is the case with many banks, Wells Fargo offers introductory rates as low as 0% for 6 months and then a variable rate after that introductory period. Rates can be as low as 8.65% depending on a person's credit history.
Wells Fargo offers many other services such as student loans, auto loans, mortgage, retirement, and various types of insurance such as auto insurance, life insurance, and health insurance. I should also mention that Wells Fargo offers an identity theft protection program which protects your credit and debit cards. Of course, it has a monthly fee of $12.99. Still, it's better than having thousands of dollars stolen from your checking account or credit card.
Wells Fargo has some of the best customer service I have seen. The tellers are very friendly and they make opening an account very easy. Sometimes they will even throw in a few deals. They tellers make you feel important and will answer all of your questions.
While Wells Fargo is not my favorite bank in the world, it does have some characteristics that I like. I do like the peace of mind that comes with knowing that they keep an eye out for suspicious activity on my accounts.
