Set up. Both facilities have the same set-up. Upon walking in to the front door, you are greeted by a receptionist who checks your membership or guest pass. You can also pick up towels here.
In the back of the room is the stretching area. You will also find exercise balls, hand weights, weight-free abdominal seats, and step boards in this section. I particular like the exercise ball charts on the walls. The charts are donated by local chiropractors and provide a wealth of information. In addition to having demonstrations on using the exercise balls, you will find the muscle groups various exercises affect. You also will see the purpose of the exercise. Plus, the charts are easy to read, colorful, and understand.
Fitness machines. Weight-bearing exercise machines are located in the center of Westcoast Fitness. What I like about the machines is the fact each has a diagram explaining the machine's proper usage. That is very helpful. The machines are situated so that each body part has a cluster of machines available. For instance, leg machines are on the left. Abdominal workout machines are on the right. You can easily get done with one machine and move on to the next.
Free weights. On the left side of the site you will find a variety of free weight apparatuses. This area was recently enlarged in both facilities. There are a variety of them available.
Cardio. The state-of-the-art cardio equipment is located nearest the front entrance. There are a variety of machines ranging from exercise bicycles, treadmills, step climbers, to ecliptical trainers. There is ample room between the machines, so you are not crowded by your neighbor.
Amenities.
Lockers. Lockers are provided. If you want to bring your own lock, you can. Or, I believe, you can purchase them.
Tanning. Tanning rooms are available at an additional charge, also. Westcoast Fitness does offer discounts for tanning packages. They are located along the south side of the exercise facility. I have not used them.
Personal trainers. WestCoast Fitness also has personal trainers available onsite. They appear to be a great help to those clients who needed it. The trainers explain in detail the benefits of certain machines and the effects they have upon your body - among other subjects regarding fitness. Of course, the personal trainers are an additional cost.
Kids Club. If you have children with you, Westcoast Fitness offers a discount known as 'Kid's Club'.
Free orientation. For first timers, Westcoast Fitness offers a free orientation. I found this class very helpful. I was introduced to all the machines and sections of the fitness facility. The class itself only takes a few minutes, which is nice.
Staff. I have always found the staff cheerful and helpful. They have been there whenever I had any concern. I like that.
Locker Room. Westcoast Fitness has a locker room and shower for customers to use after working out. Even when it is crowded, there is still room to maneuver in it. That is nice.
Memberships. What I particularly like about Westcoast Fitness is the fact they offer month-to-month memberships. I do not have to be tied into a multi-month contract. That is another strong selling point, I believe.
One complaint I have about Westcoast Fitness is the fact that I have been in there a couple of times and smelled sweat. Yes, I know that people sweat in fitness centers. It still does not mean I like to smell it.
Another complaint I have is the fact that both facilities need more parking. There never seems to be enough parking spaces available when I go there. Both facilities share a parking lot with other businesses.
