Location
The Westin in Las Vegas is located on East Flamingo Road that runs into the Las Vegas Strip. The hotel is about a block and half from the Las Vegas Strip and right across the road from Bally's. The walk to the strip could be kind of scary if you're walking by yourself because the homeless hang out on both sides of East Flamingo Road. However, they're pretty harmless, but will ask you for money.
Westin Amenities
The Westin has quite a few amenities just like all the other hotels in the Las Vegas area. The hotel has a casino with slots and table games. Slots are opened 24/7 and the table games start around 3 p.m. and are open until the early morning hours. Also, from Monday-Thursday from 5:30 till 8:00 p.m. the Westin offers free snacks and drinks for guests. The Westin has a swimming pool, but it is quite small and can be very crowded with just a few guests. Right beside the slots and table games the hotel features a bar and as long as you're playing in the casino you get free drinks. The Westin also has a restaurant, Starbucks, fitness center and a gift shop located within the hotel.
Rooms at the Westin
The rooms at the Westin are decent for the price. One thing that really needs updating are the TV's in the rooms. They're old looking and the picture quality is not that good compared to flat screens. The bathrooms are fairly large and feature a double headed shower. The beds are very comfortable and fluffy.
You can get a room at the Westin for around $100-$165 a night. The hotel is conveniently located about 15 minutes to the Las Vegas airport. One thing that is a little disappointing is that the Westin charges a resort fee of around $10-$15 per night for use of their fitness center, maid service and a daily newspaper. Also, you can not check in to the hotel until 4 p.m., but you can check your luggage in and hit the strip until check in time. If you're looking to be close to the Las Vegas strip, but not located on the strip, then the Westin Las Vegas hotel would be a good choice.
