I generally prefer buying fruit only spreads like Smucker's Simply Fruit or Polaner's All-Fruit, to avoid all that sugar. But when I'm looking for organic fruit spread, since it's so hard to find in my area, Whole Kids fruit spread is really the only way to go.
Whole Kids Organic Mixed Berry Spread is a bit pricey at $3.49 for a 17 ounce jar. However, it is chock full of fruit. It contains organic blueberries, organic strawberries, organic seedless blackberry puree, and organic seedless raspberry puree. The sugar seems far lower on the list than on typical jelly. As a natural spread should be, it was free from artificial colorings, flavorings and preservatives. The calories were still only about 40 per tablespoon, and the vitamin C was a surprising 15% of the recommended daily value. For most jellies, that number would usually be zero.
One thing is for certain, Whole Kids Organic Mixed Berry Spread is much better for you than traditional jelly. Since it lasts a long time, the price doesn't seem quite so bad. My kids loved the spread, but didn't demolish it quite as quickly as they did the Smucker's Simply Fruit or the Polaner's All Fruit.
The Whole Kids line is taste-tested and approved by kids, and is full of kid pleasers like this one, such as Whole Kids organic peanut butter, organic puddings, organic juices, organic crackers, organic string cheeses and organic whole apples which are small enough to easily fit a small child's lunchbox and appetite. In this hurried world we all have trouble finding the time to prepare meals, and the Whole Kids line of products helps parents to make feeding their kids healthfully a lot easier and more convenient. You can buy organic whole wheat bread from Whole Foods, or you can purchase organic ingredients in the store and make the organic whole wheat bread yourself. Then spread on Whole Kids Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter with Whole Kids Organic Mixed Berry Spread, add a Whole Kids Organic apple, Whole Kids Organic String Cheese and Whole Kids Organic Pudding and you've given them a complete, 100% organic meal in their lunchboxes to take to school. It's less expensive than giving your child money to go through the line for a hot lunch, and you can exercise more control over your child's food choices. There's a lot less worry, knowing that your child is eating healthfully.
Whole Kids Organic Mixed Berry Spread is also great for breakfast spread on whole wheat toast, or you can mix it with yogurt, or spread it on fruit to make a lightly refreshing dessert. I imagine it would also make great jelly cookies as well. This seems like a very versatile product which lives up to all of its promises. Kids love it, and so do grown-ups. It's a very tasty way to feed your kids, and help the planet.
