Review: Why I Prefer GOLD N' HOT Hair Dryers Over Other Hair Dryer Brands

Shamontiel
I learned at an early age that every hair dryer is not meant for all hair types. Although all hair dyers will dry your hair, many hair dryers will make the after-drying process more frustrating. For thick hair like mine, I highly recommend 3 x 5 GOLD N' HOT®, 1600-watt styler dryers.

Why not use long-nose hair dryers? Although they are preferred for some people, for those with thick hair that can easily tangle while drying, it's easier to dry hair in small sections without the rest blowing all over the place. Long-nose hair dryers are great for your bicep muscles but overrated for drying hair. I've used a few of them and I ended up with excess volume and one muscle bigger than the other after a couple months.

Why use attachments? I usually use some type of hair lotion or leave-in conditioner to keep my hair from tangling. This also leaves some moisture in the hair while the hair dryer is blowing heat on it. But combing hair while drying also makes hair more manageable. The only problem with hair dryers that don't have attachments are trying to comb hair and dry it at the same time is too much of a task, especially trying to do this with your own hair with his comb getting hotter in your hands. Attachments are more convenient to use. While some hair dryers have attachments that slide on, the hair dryer attachments have an annoying habit of sliding off. GOLD N' HOT hair dryers have two insertion clips, one on the top and bottom of the dryer to help hold them in place. Although the attachments can pop off occasionally, it's rare.

The brush or the comb attachments? I use all three. The wide-tooth comb attachment is good for detangling so use this first. Then, I use the fine-tooth comb to really get the hair closest to the scalp dry. Then, after oiling my hair with hair lotion, I brush the lotion in at a low temperature using the brush attachment. It leaves me with just enough body in my hair for styling without looking like cotton candy.

Availibility These hair dryers are not as popular in your everyday store as they used to be. I've had to replace my hair dryer twice, once because the neck of the dryer developed a large crack in it and another time because a hair dryer I had for several years blew fire out of it one day. While that may scare you into not buying the product, the fact is that the dryer is meant for heat. As with any product, you must be very careful of it as it ages. That fire incident happened once about nine years ago, it was nowhere near my hair and I'd been using the dryer for several years before this incident. I did try other hair dryers after that incident but realized the only one I really liked was GOLD N' HOT so I came back to this product. They are easy to find at Sally's Beauty Supply in Chicago or other neighborhood beauty supply stores like Am's Beauty Supply on the south side of Chicago.
