Review: Wiggle Worms Children's Hair Salon in Northeast Philadelphia

Wiggle Worms, located in the Illiano's shopping center on West Byberry Road in Philadelphia, PA is a children's hair salon. It's an adorable children's salon, full of toys and bright colors with a staff that is pleasant, quick and fun!

My son got his first haircut there and I could not have been more pleased with the whole experience. They listened to me when I talked about the style I wanted his to have, they were quick to cut it, he was not bored or scared and they have entertainment available to keep him quiet and still.

The salon itself is small, with only about eight stations. Four are regular barber's chairs where you can sit with your child on you lap or where your older child can sit for their haircuts. The other stations are adorable, amusement park ride cars. They have a couple cars, a police car and a fire truck and they are all too cute! While you are waiting they have plenty of seating as well as a toy box full of toys and a train table for playing. When it was out turn, my son chose the police car and he climbed on in to wait for the stylist to dampen and comb his hair before she proceeded with the cut.

Before she started to cut his hair, she offered him a video to watch on the small TV at her station. They had a ton of movies and TV shows on disk. We chose Elmo's World and once the show started, she continued with his haircut. He was distracted and happy, content watching a show he finds familiar.

The stylist quickly moved around my son, professionally trimming and layering his hair as he wiggled out of her grab. When it was clear that he was getting annoyed, she handed him a couple, clean, new combs to play with. That worked like a charm and he was done in less than ten minutes.

She gathered up a bit of his hair and filled out a certificate for his first haircut. Sniff. She put the hair into a special bag for me and they gave my son a lollipop for being such a good boy.

You don't need an appointment, there is ample parking and the price is great, only $7.00 for a haircut! The salon is clean and very kid friendly. We will be visiting Wiggle Worms again!
