Review of the Winchester Virginia Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

Eric Jackson
I went to see Ninja Assassin on Thanksgiving night at the Winchester Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The Drafthouse recently opened and if the only Alamo Cinema outside of Texas. I love Drafthouse because you can watch a film, eat, and drink all at the same time. Plus Alamo has style with an amazing lobby bar and classic theater look you'll enjoy your experience. The videos before the trailers were funny and created exclusively for the Alamo Drafthouse.

With my student ID the movie was only $6, but regularly $12. The drinks were well prices leaning on the cheap side American bottles starting at $3 and going up from there. You can also get a bucket of beers where you get 6 for the price of 4. The food is bar fare mostly burgers, fries, etc. It's a little expensive, but not bad. I really enjoyed the fries.

The service is standard for Winchester ranging from rude to unhelpful at every request. When we arrived our server asked my party if we had been there before and only one of us had. Our server said, "Oh well he can explain everything to you." Then she walked off before we could ask any questions. You simply write your order on slips of paper and wait for them to come by and pick them up. Get used to FLAGGING YOUR SERVER DOWN because they are not looking to help you. Each thing we ordered was brought out by a different server. I saw no less than 6 servers for a party of 4 people. The service was also very slow for having a team of people working an empty theater. It took me 20 minutes to get my bucket of beer. When a movie is only 90 minutes time is a factor and I was unable to finish the bucket. People in my party got food before the drinks which doesn't make any sense.

I suggest you arrive early to combat the slow service and drink in the lobby until 20 minutes before your films starts and then order right away. The Alamo Drafthouse suffers from similar problems to the Arlington Cinema Drafthouse which I also reviewed.
