How Are the Chicken Wings at the Washington D.C. Metro Area Location?

Wingstop is a rapidly expanding chicken wings restaurant chain with hundreds of locations. They promote having made and sold over 1 billion chicken wings (although the ticking clock on their homepage is now over 1.6 billion wings!) and are the self proclaimed "Wing Experts."

The company has been around since 1994 and you may recognize them best as "the chicken wings that Troy Aikman shills for." Hey, when it comes to chicken wings, who should I trust more than the three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys?

Wingstop keeps things very simple with their menu. They only offer chicken wings, boneless chicken wings, and fries as well as a few other sides. The sides include potato salad, sole slaw, baked beans, veggie sticks and extra dips like blue cheese, ranch and honey mustard. There's no fluff on this menu, it's straight down to business.

They have some tables and booths in the restaurant as well as beer by the bottle so you can feel free to eat your meal there. However, most people order their wings to go.

They have 9 different flavors of wings: Atomic, Cajun, Original Hot, Mild, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Lemon Pepper, Garlic Parmesan, Hawaiian and Teriyaki. After many trips to the local Rockville Wingstop location, I've tried just about all of their varieties, some of which I like more than others.

The Cajun wings are extremely flavorful and pack a good punch. In terms of sauce and pure flavoring, they may be the tastiest wings I've ever had. Teriyaki and BBQ are both also excellent. Garlic Parmesan was a little disappointing, more greasy than anything else.

Wingstop also offers many different family pack value meals. These include varying amounts of wings, extra flavors, sides, fries and more. Perfect for a big game or another gathering, or simply a quick family meal on a business weeknight.

The only real complaint I have with Wingstop is that their wings are very small. Did they get the wings from actual chickens, or some kind of low cost, readily available hamster-chicken laboratory mash up?

Despite this, if you live in Rockville, Gaitherburg or close by in the Washington D.C. metro area I would recommend a visit to Wingstop for a quick chicken wings fix.

For more information you can visit their website at www.wingstop.com. You'll know you're there when you see Aikman's grinning face staring at you. You can even order online from their website if you're close by.
