My wife and I decided to do some grocery shopping at Wal-mart yesterday afternoon (so we could try out our new Wal-mart credit card) and both bought ingredients for dinner (spaghetti) and items my daughter could take to school with her as part of her lunches.
While we were in one of the snack aisles, I happened to see a bag of World Table Black Pepper Rice Thins. I'm not exactly sure why this was, but I thought they looked interesting and, seeing they were under $2 (they cost $1.78), I decided to pick them up as a snack for work despite not having any idea what it was I was buying.
Since this was an item I had not tried before or even heard of before this past weekend, I wasn't really sure what to expect from it when I took a small bag of them with me to work earlier today (I always try to have an afternoon snack before going to the gym after work). Since they obviously had black pepper in them, I figured they would be somewhat spicy. But, I wasn't sure if it would be just enough to give them a unique flavor or would be too much.
As it turns out, it was the former.
I gave these a try early this afternoon and was actually pretty impressed with them. There's no mistaking the black pepper when you taste them because the snacks use quite a bit of it. But, it's just enough to give them a kick without making them too spicy (and leaving you too thirsty).
Another thing I liked about these snacks was how crisp they were. I like snacks that have a crunch to them and these were definitely crunchy. Yet, much like with the black pepper seasoning on them, the World Table brand knew when to quit and stopped just short of making them crunchy to the point they were too hard to chew.
What really impressed me about these rice thins was how filling they are. When I have an afternoon snack, I need it to last me up to three or four hours and I have found plenty that don't do that. This snack stayed with me through my workout and I wasn't starting to get hungry again until just before having dinner.
If you are looking for something to snack on that's a bit different, this is a product I recommend looking for.
