Review of Xanax, Prescription Tranquilizer

Jack Oceano
If you suffer from anxiety, your doctor may prescribe Xanax, a benzodiazepine tranquilizer that helps relieve anxiety, nervousness and tension associated with anxiety and panic disorders. This is a review of Xanax, prescription tranquilizer.

I started taking Xanax several years ago, when my level of anxiety severely increased due to the stress involved with practicing law. The Xanax helped to manage my anxiety and allowed me a better, longer night's sleep. It was perfect for occasions of high stress, such as arguing in the courtroom and dealing with deadbeat clients. It improved my overall mood and made me more effective at work.

However, Xanax does have its downside. It is severely habit forming, and once you begin taking it, you may be more than a little reluctant to stop. You should not drink alcohol while taking Xanax, and you certainly should not drink to excess, a warning I discovered the hard way when I fell flat on my face and woke in a Hoboken hospital.

Xanax can cause dizziness, drowsiness, even clumsiness. It can also cause depression and vivid dreams. You may experience stomach ailments, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation. You may experience hangover symptoms such as headache or dry mouth. Many users experience a decreased sex drive and changes in behavior.

It can sometimes feel as though anxiety is controlling your life, and Xanax is an excellent short-term solution to anxiety disorders. But its addictive quality can cause greater problems over the long haul. You may become both physically and psychologically dependent on this prescription tranquilizer. You may experience withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly cease taking Xanax after several weeks of continuous use. You will want to reduce your dosage of Xanax gradually to reduce these effects.

My experience with Xanax, aside from falling flat on my face several years ago, was very good. It got me through the worst of times when my anxiety was most severe and quite debilitating. I continue to take Xanax on occasion, mostly for help relaxing and falling asleep late at night. I no longer make the mistake of mixing Xanax with alcohol.

If you suffer from severe anxiety, do not hesitate to ask your doctor whether he or she believes Xanax may be right for you. It is one of the best prescription tranquilizers on the market, and it may very well improve your health and well-being. Thanks for reading this review of Xanax, prescription tranquilizer.
