Review: Yak and Yeti Restaurant in Westminster, Colorado

Pat Bartels
Since I have been visiting in Colorado, I have been enjoying a new cuisine that I have never tried before. I also wrote a review of another type of restaurant that specializes in the cuisine of Nepal and India that I discovered in Boulder you can read that review, also, if you like. It is titled A Review of Namaste Nepal Restaurant in Boulder, Colorado.

Yak and Yeti has two locations. Their other location is in Arvada, Colorado. Yak and Yeti does have a website that you can visit to get more information. Their website link is located at the end of this article if you want to take a look.

This restaurant has both a lunch and dinner buffet, and, if you don't enjoy a buffet, a full menu. The lunch buffet was all you could eat at $8.99. The day that I was at the buffet they had two soup selections. The soup I tried was a vegetable coconut soup. It was fantastic. I have never had anything like this before. I could see that it had cauliflower in it and had a creamy texture with just a hint of coconut.

They served both yellow rice and basmati rice. I tried the yellow rice and it had a very good flavor. There were a lot of buffet choices. Everything that I tried was very good. They also brought a basket of Naan, which I had never had before, and I found it to be delicious. On their menu they have several different kinds of Naan that you can try.

They also had quite a large selection of different desserts on their buffet. I tried the Shikarni. This consists of fresh bananas with yogurt and cinamon. So simple but tasted wonderful. The buffet also had a carrot pudding, Gulab Jammun (milk balls in a light syrup), and rice pudding. I was so full that I only tried the Shikarni. I'll have to save the others for another visit.

I was with my Son, Daughter-in-law and Granddaughter. Sophia, my granddaughter is under two years old. They let her have whatever she wanted at no charge. They also brought her a Mango Lassi which is a type of yogurt drink that Sophia thought was quite yummy. Slava, my Daughter-in-law, and I both had Chai tea. They also advertise that they serve a handcrafted beer that is made at their restaurant. We didn't try this, but we may the next time we go back.

I recommend this restaurant. The wait staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. It's easy to find and is right off of interstate 36. Yak and Yeti is open from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm and from 5:00 pm until 10:00 pm seven days a week. Next time you're in the area and are in the mood for something a little different, give them a try.

Pat - I'd go just for the name of it. Yak and Yeti, I love it! I thought it was a sweet touch not to charge your granddaughter. Nicely done, You should send them a copy of this review and tell them the folks here said "Good job!" Cheers :)
