A couple days ago, my wife had to run to the store for a couple things. While she was there, she came across YoGo Yogurt Cakes and, since they were on sale, picked up a couple packs of them; including Blueberry Yogurt Cakes for me.
I had originally planned on trying these the next morning for breakfast but, as is usually the case when trying to wake up in the morning, I completely forgot we had them until I finally remembered them this morning. Since I didn't have any other breakfast plans, I decided to give them a try.
To tell you the truth, when I opened the package, I was a bit skeptical. I'm not a big yogurt fan. I'm not sure why that is, but I have never liked the taste. And, because of that, I had a few doubts about cakes made from yogurt. However, since my wife did buy these for me, I tried one with an open mind and had to admit, they were better than I thought they would be.
To tell you the truth, I didn't notice anything that resembled yogurt when I bit into this cake this morning. It tasted just like any other pastry. And, there were quite a few things to like about it.
For one, it was very fresh. The biggest problem with pre-packaged food items like this is you never know how long they have been sitting on the shelf and, because of that; they aren't always guaranteed to be fresh. But these tasted almost as fresh as a pastry we would buy at one of our local bakeries here in town. In fact, without the wrapper, I might be able to pass it off as a freshly made pastry.
Another thing I found I liked about this product was the taste. It had a sweet flavor to it; both from the blueberries and from the pastry itself. In fact, I think it might have been a little too sweet for a breakfast item (I'm not a big fan of sweets first thing in the morning). But, I do think it would have been perfect if I would have eaten it later in the day.
Overall, I am very happy with this product. If it had been me at the store, I probably wouldn't have even considered it. But, I'm very glad my wife decided to buy it so I had a chance to try these. If you are looking for something to snack on, I recommend them.
