My wife and I have been trying to eat a bit healthier since this past summer and, even though we both cheat on our respective diets (it's hard not to when you have kids), we have stuck with it for the most part.
One thing my wife has tried to do is drink more smoothies rather than something that isn't quite as healthy. However, because fresh fruit (and even frozen fruit) is pretty expensive, this isn't something that she has been able to stick to quite as much as she would like. That's why, when she came across Yoplait frozen smoothies, she decided to give them a try; starting with the Chocolate Banana Smoothie.
Her decision to try this was, of course, based on price. She found this product for under $2 at our local Wal-mart and, when compared to buying the ingredients separately, that's a pretty decent deal. This is especially true when you consider one package makes enough for two servings rather than just one (like some other smoothie/milk shake products we've seen in the past).
I will give this product some points for convenience. It comes with everything except milk (and we usually have that in our fridge) and all you have to do is put it in your blender. It's definitely easier than having to cut up the chocolate and bananas yourself (plus a bit cheaper than buying those things separate). She had this prepared in a lot less time than it usually takes her to make a smoothie as a result of that.
Unfortunately, when it came to this variety, neither of us was impressed with the taste. I'm not a big smoothie fan personally. But, when I have sampled some of the others she's had, I didn't mind them. This one, however, wasn't very good. As she described it, it had way too much banana in it and not enough chocolate. As a result, she ended up saving the second serving so she could add peanut butter to it in an effort to give it a more pleasant taste (I'm not sure if she ever did that).
My wife and I both like the convenience and the lower price of this product enough where we would consider giving it a second chance. However, the next time we buy this, we will definitely be purchasing a different variety because this one did not give us a good first impression of this product.
