There are some good benefits to smoothies such as getting a serving or more of fruit into your daily diet. Not to mention a good healthy dose of vitamin C and generally low in calories. There are exceptions when sugar is added to the smoothies causing calorie levels to go up. Smoothies can be made from most type of berries, bananas, peaches, mango and the list goes on.
Yoplait smoothies are very easy to make. You take 1 cup of skim milk and blend the packaged ingredients in the blender. I was surprised when I opened the bag there was only frozen strawberries and bananas. I was hoping for a little more such as a powder mix included. As I proceeded to blend the smoothie I did need to stop the blender and move the fruit around with a spoon several times even though the setting was blending on high.
The drink itself was flavorful enough and gave health benefits but there are some downsides. If you're in a hurry in the morning and don't have time to cut up fresh fruit, this will help you save time. But it might be more cost effective to buy fresh strawberries and bananas to make a smoothie. Not only would you get more servings for the cost but there wouldn't be added artificial sweeteners added.
Regardless of buying prepackaged smoothie 'kits' or making your own, you can add items such as a protein powder mix or vitamin powder to add an extra health boost. Always check with your doctor prior to starting any new diet. If you're a member of Betty Crocker, you can currently download a $1.00 coupon of the purchase for a Yoplait frozen smoothie kit. Also be sure to check out www.Pillsbury.com as they also offer time to time a $1.00 coupon. Check out http://www.Yoplait.com to see this and all other products Yoplait current has to offer.
Overall I'll pass on this Yoplait product and stick to making smoothies from fresh fruit. You may want to try cutting up enough fresh fruit and putting them in plastic freezer bags to grab and make a fresh smoothie when time is of the essence.
