Reviewing the 2010 GTI and Its Specifications Compared to Previous Models
Could the 2010 Volkswagen GTI Be the Best GTI Ever Made?
Some owners enjoy the sporty ride combined with classy interior, others like the affordable sticker price. An interesting fact is that this model has been in continuous production since 1974! and this is the sixth generation of GTI models.
It has evolved over the years into a quite refined and civilized machine which looks great on the road. This car works well in most situations, whether you are heading to the grocery or the gun club. It is designed to have sexy curb appeal to the masses.
I drove a 1984 Rabbit Diesel as a work car for two years doing Air Pollution monitoring field work, and it was a really great running car with plenty of room for equipment and excellent fuel mileage. Now when i see the GTI it reminds me of how fun that Rabbit Diesel was to drive!
Packing a moderately tuned 2.0 Liter four cylinder engine with a turbocharger with it! This package churns out a respectable 200 Horsepower, and with the six speed manual transmission you will need to find another excuse for being late to school or work! Some people feel that the performance of this model could be improved and quite possibly the engine could have a little more zip, but all things considered I feel that this model is really quite well balanced.
Some of the features on this car that are working to its advantage could be the smooth shifting transmission, and the spunky little four cylinder once the turbo kicks in.
This car is very comfortable for the driver and their passengers as well with plenty of leg and head room in the front or rear seats. Cloth seats are standard and these can take the daily wear and tear providing you do not spill drinks and food all over the cabin.
GTI stands for "Gran Touring Injected" which implies that this model VW is a very capable car when it comes to handling that long road trip you are planning.
One way to fall in love with a 2010 GTI is to take it for a test drive and have the dealer let you keep it overnight! Once you operate the car for a while you will begin to see how well built the car is everywhere, and you will begin to appreciate how smoothly this little car gets down the road.
Since this turbo model is a quiet sleeper by design and at 24 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway you will not have to stop for gas very often! Drive one and you will see that it is fully capable of taking on the toughest challenges! Another point in favor of the GTI is how much little car you get for your money! With pricing ranging from around $23,000 to just over $25,000 you get quite a lot of sporty road machine for that money!
Some owner complaints and disadvantages about this GTI model are that there is just a bit more horsepower needed to transform this into a world class Turbo Coupe! They have also designed an ergonomic cabin and have appointed it wisely with high technology gadgets like heated front seats, Blue Tooth and 8 speaker stereo with a Touch screen display!
While it may appear to be very similar to previous GTI models, it is really evolving into quite a sophisticated and distinguished gentleman of a car! So if you are in the market for a compact that runs extremely well then you should go to the nearest dealer and take a GTI out for a spin!
