Reviewing the Body Shop's Coconut Shower Cream

Another of The Body Shop's inventions is their line of Shower Cream. This rich cleansing agent is designed to give you better moisture in the shower and after you step out. They come in matching scents to complement the body butter and lotion scents available. The layering of scents gives you added freshness to meet the challenges of your day. So how does this shower cream measure up? I sampled one of their most popular scents to see.

Scent

There is no denying that their scents are one of the greatest benefits of The Body Shop's products. Their shower cream is no exception to the rule, either. The coconut scent smells exactly like its sister body butter. You will find that the scent is invigorating in the shower, but only subtly gives your skin that scent. If you want it to linger longer than you'll need to use the body butter in combination.

Functionality and Ease of use

True to its name the Shower Cream is very creamy in consistency. It is different from other body washes because it is thicker and does not contain skin-drying soap. This Shower Cream is perfect for those with skin problems or sensitivity to soap products. The squeeze bottle design is easy to keep in your shower without getting water into the sealed cap. The packaging design makes it convenient to dispense onto a wash cloth or sponge without pouring too much out at a time; there is a slight difficulty in the hard plastic of the bottle's construction that makes it hard to squeeze.

This shower cream works up into a lather, but not as much as ordinary soap-based body washes. You might have to add more to your sponge half way through the shower as it can run out of lather quickly. It is milky, rather than runny. You will find that the moisture of the product will 'seal' better if you pat, rather than rub yourself dry with a towel after your shower. The coconut oil in the Coconut Shower Cream gives it the perfect combination for moisturizing extra dry skin.

Value

When it isn't on sale, you can find this Shower Cream for $10.00 for a 250 ml. squeeze bottle. This amount can last for a month or so with daily use. If you don't want to spend that much on a single shower product, you might consider buying it a few times a year or at times of the year that you have drier skin. The coconut really conditions dry skin better than many of the body washes you will find, and so the overall value of the product is evidenced in those that really need this extra boost in the shower. Those of you that have normal or oily skin wouldn't benefit from the special formula of this product. But for those of you with very sensitive skin, you will find this product worth the money.
