Reviewing the CieAura RestQuiet Holographic Chip

Jenny Tolley
Feeling sleepy these days? You're not alone. Every year, Americans spend a lot of time and money on products intended to help them get a good night's rest. When it comes to sleep, a process that is so important for maintaining good health, I'm no different than other people. In fact, it's rare these days that I sleep through the night.

Until very recently, I had never heard of CieAura, a company that makes transparent holographic chips that are intended to work with the body's bio-magnetic field to effect a certain response. But then one day my mother-in-law told me about the company and offered my husband and me a chance to try some of the chips. I was pretty skeptical about CieAura. For one thing, I've never really looked into homeopathic remedies, even though some people swear by them. For another thing, I found out that CieAura chips are sold through "independent retailers". In other words, CieAura is a multi-level marketing company (MLM).

Although many MLMs do offer good products, a lot of people are wary of purchasing anything through them because they think all MLMs are scam operations. It's not my intention to debate whether or not CieAura's MLM business model is a scam. I just want to report my husband's and my experiences using the CieAura RestQuiet Chip.

How it's supposed to work

According to CieAura's Web site, the RestQuiet Transparent Holographic Chips are intended to provide a safe alternative for people who need a good night's sleep but don't want to risk the side effects of sleep medications. RestQuiet chips do not contain any kind of medication; instead, they supposedly employ holographic images that communicate with the body through the human electromagnetic field. It supposedly affects the body in the same way that acupressure does.

My husband was particularly eager to try these chips because he has to get up very early in the morning for his job. Sleeping pills usually leave him feeling groggy and out of sorts in the morning; so he doesn't like to risk using them when he has trouble sleeping and has to get up for work the next day.

How to use the chip

Apply the chip to either the left or right temple thirty minutes before bedtime. Remove the chip when you wake up. The chip can be re-used up to three times.

The literature warns not to carry the chips in your pocket. This is because the close proximity to your body's energy field will prematurely activate them and cause them to be less effective. Likewise, these chips should not be placed near a magnet.

Our method

I am a 37 year old female and my husband is a 45 year old male. My husband and I each used one RestQuiet chip per three-night session. We used the chips for a total of nine nights over a three week period. We both tried using the chip on the left and right temples.

Our results

The RestQuiet chips are square, transparent, plastic stickers with tiny holographic images and words on them. They adhere easily to the skin and stayed on our skin throughout the night. We had no trouble reusing them for three nights, though I noticed as the weather is getting warmer, the adhesive gets stickier. My husband and I both found the chips to be comfortable enough so that we didn't really notice them once we put them on.

Both my husband and I experienced a lot of vivid dreams when we used the RestQuiet chips. My husband, who usually has trouble falling and staying asleep, reports that he had an easier time falling asleep while wearing the chip. We both woke up during the night while using these chips, but falling asleep was easy. The key difference for both of us wasn't so much in getting more sleep, but getting more REM phase sleep. REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement, which is a stage of sleep that is strongly associated with dreams.

Both my husband and I consistently experienced a number of vivid dreams while using the CieAura patch. While my husband noticed a positive difference when he used the chip on his left temple, I got the same results on both sides. My husband says that when he used the patch on the right temple, his results were actually unpleasant. Using the patch on the left side, he found that he had an easier time falling asleep even after waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

I occasionally snore due to seasonal allergies. I wore the patch last night and my husband said that when he got up to use the bathroom, he noticed that I wasn't snoring. According to CieAura's Web site, the RestQuiet chip has been reported to reduce snoring in some users.

We both woke up feeling fine after using these chips. My husband was particularly pleased with his experience, since he was fully alert upon waking. When he uses drugs to fall asleep, he often ends up with the dreaded "medicine head" in the morning.

The RestQuiet product listing on CieAura's official Web site reports that this product is still in testing, though the preliminary research indicates that the RestQuiet patch does increase sleep efficiency. I want to note that this product is currently being tested in placebo controlled studies and has not yet been clinically tested.

Overall

Though I was initially very skeptical about the RestQuiet Holographic Chip, at this point I'm left with a pretty positive impression of them. In three different sleep sessions using these chips, my husband and I did both enjoy better sleep. My husband is more impressed by these chips than I am, probably because he has a harder time getting good quality sleep than I do.

I know a lot of people would want to dismiss CieAura's RestQuiet Holographic Chips because they are sold through multi-level marketing. While I would prefer not to have to buy this product through an MLM, I can't say that this product doesn't work. We did get favorable results in using the RestQuiet chips and I can't say that we got those results due to wishful thinking. My husband and I really had no expectations that these chips would work the first time we used them and we were both pleasantly surprised when they did. Now that we've used them several times and gotten consistent results, we are comfortable in our belief that they're not completely worthless.

So, while I know that some people won't want to try the RestQuiet Holographic Chip because of the way they're marketed, I would recommend them to anyone who has trouble sleeping and wants to try a product that doesn't involve using drugs. They are not harmful in any way and they may very well be helpful to those who are willing to give them a shot.
