Reviewing Lawry's New Marinades

Give Your Dinner Menu a Kick

Tricia Goss
We all know that eating in can save a good deal of money and many people enjoy preparing dinners at home. Most families rotate the same 10 to 15 dinner recipes, and when you create the same meals time and again, though, it is easy to feel stuck in a rut. If you are looking to spice up your dinner menu repertoire, you might want to consider Lawry's new marinades.

You might think that marinades are great, if you were going to fire up the grill. What about the rest of the time, though? Lawry's two newest offerings might change your thinking about how to use marinades. You can pour either flavor over beef, chicken or pork. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes or overnight and then bake, broil or grill the meat. You can brush on the reserve marinade during cooking, but you should always discard any leftover marinade. You can also use Lawry's new marinades in some creative, delicious recipes.

Lawry's Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato Marinade boasts extra virgin olive oil and minced garlic. It is laced with bits of sun-dried tomatoes, sweet peppers and herbs. This tangy, slightly sweet marinade is delightful on chicken breasts. Grill, bake or broil the marinated chicken, slice into bite-size pieces and toss with your favorite pasta or use it to top a green salad.

If you like grilling vegetables, coat them with Lawry's Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato Marinade before placing them on the grill and reapply as they cook. Your grilled veggies will be zestier than ever.

Lawry's offers recipes featuring the marinade as well. For example, their Tuscan Roasted Chicken and Vegetables recipe combines chicken pieces, a lively assortment of vegetables and Lawry's Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato Marinade for a quick, easy, delectable dinner idea. The Tuscan-Style Chicken Marsala takes under 30 minutes from prep to table, and the Grilled Chicken Tuscan Salad recipe might be just the ticket for a warm summer evening.

The second new flavor of Lawry's marinade is Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ Marinade, featuring Chinese Five Spice blend, ginger, sesame oil and red pepper. Give your pork, ribs or chicken a sweet and sour kick with just the right amount of heat.

As with their Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato Marinade, Lawry's offers some pleasing recipe ideas using the Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ Marinade. While the Szechuan Ribs recipe takes some time, the list of ingredients and amount of labor involved are both minimal. The results are well worth the time, too, as you end up with succulent, fall-off-the-bones ribs in just over an hour.

Likewise, the Grilled Szechuan Pork and Pineapple could not be simpler and turns out a sweet, tangy, satisfying meal your whole family will enjoy.

You can use the marinades to perk up your own favorite recipes, as well. Add some Lawry's Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato Marinade to your ground beef or turkey when making burgers for a delightfully tangy kick. Prepare your favorite meatball recipe and slightly brown the meatballs in a skillet. Place into a baking dish, top with Lawry's Szechuan Sweet and Sour BBQ Marinade and bake in a 350-degree oven for about 45 minutes.

Next time you are at the grocery store or driving home trying to come up with something different for dinner, head to the marinade section of the supermarket and pick up some of Lawry's new marinades. Your recipe repertoire is sure to grow.
