The Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series fits the bill nicely. It also has some very impressive features. I watch a lot of DVD movies, and the THX Certified display really knocked me out. Lucasfilm defined the theater viewing experience when they first created THX for movie sound and picture, and translating it to television makes this set stand out in a crowd.
The picture on the Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series is crystal clear and motion blur is pretty much nonexistent.
Viera Cast is also something you won't get elsewhere. The Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series has this function which actually affords you more content through an easy to use web interface that is built right into the TV.
The Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series has very little glare due to its unique AR (Anti reflective) filter. It helps to eliminate the glare you get from external sources, while enhancing the picture quality.
The Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series has a game mode that intrigued me. This goes into effect when you hook up a game console to the TV. It really does a great job of reproducing darker images in games properly, and cuts down on game wobble that I have seen in other TVs
The Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series includes a slot for SD media. I find it really interesting to be able to view my digital pictures on my 42" TV screen in 1920 x 1080 screen resolution.
The Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series itself is very thin, only 2 inches. It really looks great hanging on the wall. (I recommend you have a professional install hang your TV for you.)
The Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series has 3 HDMI inputs, 2 composite video, and one S-Video input. Frankly I would have liked there to more in the way of HDMI inputs, and most of my equipment has that type of output capability. The LAN port does help though. Being able to connect the TV into the home network makes it rather interesting.
To be honest, after three weeks, I have not found much I don't like about the Panasonic VIERA 42" G15 Series. It has a great picture, the sound is good, (although I usually have a surround system going) and the price, while a bit on the high side, was worth it.
