Reviewing New Retro Style Ovens & Other Appliances

A number of new appliances are available for purchase which feature a retro style exterior. Such models include ovens, toasters, blenders, and various other appliances. Although they are more expensive to purchase and not as genuine as truly retro appliances, they have newer features and are in new condition.

OVENS: Most retro style ovens are convection or toaster type ovens, but others are also available. Elmira Stove Works offers a new Northstar '50s-style electric stove and conventional oven, which is available on eBay and a few other websites. The Chef Pepin CH48555 is a curved red toaster oven available at Target.com. The DeLonghi AR1070SRB (try searching for it online with and without a space between "1070" and "SRB") is a convection oven with a rotisserie feature. It has a chrome/metal exterior and analog controls. A few microwave ovens with retro coloration can be found on eBay.com.

BLENDERS: The Waring PBB212, available from Sears.com, features a retro appearance and green coloration. Sam's Club offers a retro-styled Cuisinart blender with a glass container and metal base. DeLonghi and Russell Hobbs also sell blenders of this type.

TOASTERS: The DeLonghi RT200 and RT400 are two similar vintage style toasters with a grey metal exterior and retro controls. The RT200 can toast two slices at a time, while the RT400 toasts up to four but is more expensive. Unlike some older toasters, they have slots which can accomodate bagels. The Cuisinart CPT-120R (available at acehardwareoutlet.com) is a red two-slice toaster.

REFRIGERATORS: While they are not as common as some of the other appliances, it is possible to purchase retro style refrigerators as well. Elmira Northstar refrigerators are available in several different colors, have vintage-styled handles, and feature a bottom-located freezer. The Elmira Stove Works appliances (including refrigerators and stoves/ovens) have a more authentic look than many retro style products. This brand also offers a panel kit which can be applied to an existing dishwasher to give it a retro appearance.

COFFEE MAKERS: Several different vintage style coffee maker models are available, including the DeLonghi DCR902T, which is a large twelve-cup unit. ToastMaster offers a slightly smaller (ten-cup) unit with a retro style analog indicator and mostly white exterior (model TMCMRET; available at Target.com).
