Reviewing Sambuca Jazz Cafe in Downtown Houston

Sambuca Jazz Café originated in Dallas by two brothers in 1991 and it was located in an artsy area of town and the music and food made the Café an instant hit and later they opened up a Sambuca Jazz Café in downtown Houston and attracting great music bands and a crowd from all over town. The Houston location is interesting because it remains in the historic Rice Hotel and the music that they features is very diverse and it can change every night, you can enjoy jazz, blues on one night and classic rock or even Latin rhythms on another.

The Café's hours of operations are from Monday through Wednesday for lunch from 11:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M and dinner from 5:00 P.M to 10:00 P.M, Thursday lunch is from 11:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M and dinner from 5:00 P.M to 11:00 P.M, Friday lunch is from 11:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M and dinner from 5:00 P.M to 12:00 A.M, Saturday dinner is from 5:00 to 12:00 A.M and Sunday dinner is from 5:00 P.M to 11:00 P.M.

Sambuca Jazz Café is great for a meal with friends or a romantic dinner or you can just stay at the bar and have a drink and enjoy the live music that is offered. For their cocktails try their Asian pear martini, or the pomegranate martini for $9.75, or the chocolate martini for $8.50 but you can also choose from their wine list such as the Mezza Corona Pinot Grigio for $8.00, or the Helena Ranch Merlot for $7.50.

For their starters you can try their deconstructed sushi which is seared tuna sushi with a plum sauce for $14.00, or the nutty avocado with jumbo lump crab which is fried in almond and pine nut crust for $10.50 or the Dr. Pepper marinated ribs for $9.50. They also have a section called "small plates" and you can order the lobster dumplings which come with a minty sauce on the side for $11.00, or the buca beignets which are dumplings stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto and a jalapeno glaze for $8.00 or the chicken samosas for $7.00. Most of these small plates are good to have two together or accompanied by their breads such as the grilled garlic cheese bread for $3.75 or the bruschetta with twin tapenades which come with olive pate for $4.25, or the bruschetta trio which comes with three sauces a pistachio, a sun-dried tomato and a Greek salsa one.
