Reviews of 5 Epson All-in-One Printers

Take a Look at Epson's Line When It's Time for an All-in-One Printer

Brian Jones
As the world turns more and more into a computerized society, more and more people are looking for peripherals once needed only by those with a home office or home business. One of the biggest up and coming peripherals is the all-in-one printer. Although the regular printer has been standard fare for years, people are now beginning to see the need for the additional functionality of scanning and copying that the all-in-one printer provides. If your budget does not justify buying a high-end office device, Epson offers a line of all-in-one printers that provide quality printing, scanning, and copying. Not only are they great for documents, but they print a very good photo as well. Let's take a look at the top 5 all-in-one printers offered by Epson.

Epson Stylus Photo RX595
This all-in-one printer prints standard text at 38 pages/minute and standard 4x6 inch photos in 11 seconds. This device also offers auto photo correction with advanced face detection and a 2.5 inch color LCD screen and multipurpose memory card slot to print without even having to use your PC. The scanner has a maximum dpi of 9600x9600 and features an auto scan-to-.pdf function for instant archiving. This is a great printer that can be bought at any electronics store, many department stores, and online for about $109.99.

Epson Stylus CX9400Fax
The CX series is one of Epson's newest line of all-in-one printers and the CX9400 is one of their best. In addition to Print/Copy/Scan, this device also offers fax capability. This printer offers great print speed and quality for both documents and photos-32 pages/minute for docs and 26 seconds for a 4x6 photo. The scanner resolution is maxed out at 9600x9600 dpi. Copying offers an enlargement feature of up to 400% with an automatic fit-to-page feature. This printer also offers a tilt 2.5 inch LCD screen and built in memory card slots for just about any type. This printer sells for $129.99 but can often be found on sale for the thrifty shopper.

Epson Stylus CX8400
The CX8400 is a mid-range all-in-one printer that offers great scanning, copying, and printing. It prints documents ant 32 pages/minute and 4x6 photos at 26 seconds. The memory card reader and tilt LCD screen, along with the on-board edit buttons allow for printing without your PC. The scanner offers the scan-to-.pdf features and has a maximum resolution of 9600x9600. This is a nice little printer, and actually the one I own personally. It can be had for only $99.99.

Epson Stylus NX400
The NX series is made strictly for everyday home use. It offers document printing speeds of up to 34 pages/minute and 4x6 photos at 26 seconds. It also offers auto photo correction, memory card readers and 2.5 inch tilt LCD for PC-less printing. The hardware resolution of the scanner is only 1200 x 2400 dpi with a maximum of 9600 x 9600 dpi and offers only 24 bit output as compared to the 48 bits of the others printers here in the CX class. At $79.99, I would only recommend this printer if you can't spare the extra $20.00 to jump up to the CX8400.

Epson Workforce 600
The Workforce line was created for the home office or small business. The 600 offers the additional features of fax and Wi-Fi. The quality of the output here is comparable to laser printers at twice the cost. This printer prints documents at speeds of 38 pages/minute. The fax memory holds up to 180 pages in memory and sends as fast as 3 seconds/page and holds up to 60 speed dial numbers. The Workforce 600 also offers the 2.5 inch LCD and the multi-memory card reader as the others. It features the fit-to-page coypying, scan-to-.pdf, and accepts just about all paper sizes, including small cards and envelopes. This printer sells for $199.99.

The Epson printers here, whether the RX photo series, NX home series, CX home or office series, or the Workforce series, are all quality machines with a lot of standard features. Personally, I would go for the CX series for the best of all worlds, but if you do own a small business, the Workforce will provide you with faster printing and more durability. Also their 4 cartridge ink system saves you money by only having to replace the color that is out, unlike the the multi-color cartridges of others. Next time you need a printer, take a look at Epson.
