Reviews of the Best Asian Restaurants in Las Vegas, Off the Strip
The Best Local Secrets that Visitors Must Know About
Las Vegas, NV 89147
United States of America
In the mood for Japanese? One of the best sushi restaurants in Las Vegas and perhaps the whole United States is found off the strip. At Sushi-Mon, quality AND quantity is a reality. Home of some of the freshest fish and sea creatures this side of the pacific, one of Sushi-Mon's biggest selling point is their all you can eat sushi deal for $25. A highly popular gathering place among locals and knowing visitors, hungry patrons might have to wait 30-60 minutes before being seated. However, the food is well worth the wait. The all you can eat menu boasts a wide variety of nigiri's and special sushi rolls, as well as a plethora of hot japanese appetizers. There is also a secret menu that only old patrons of the store know about. The secret menu allows each all you can eat patrons to have one order of toro (fatty tuna that can cost around $15-$18 at a typical japanese restaurant) nigiri, one order of uni (sea urchin) sushi, and one order of amebi (sweet shrimp). Those three items alone would recuperate your cost of $25. After you have endulged yourself in fresh fish. Enjoy some delicious ice cream, try all the flavors it's included in the price.
If raw fish is not your thing, try some Thai BBQ. The original thai bbq restaurant is a franchise that began in California. Las Vegas only has one location. The menu boasts various BBQ and curry items. For more bang for your buck, go for the lunch or dinner specials. The reason I love this restaurant most is the unlimited refills on Thai ice teas. My personal best was four cups. Maybe you can beat my record.
Continuing with southwest asian food, vietnamese food is healthy, economical, and delicious. There are numerous noodle shops off the strip and Pho So 1 is among the best, if not the best. Located at 4745 Spring Mountain Rd Ste A, Las Vegas, NV 89102-8709, Pho So 1 has gotten a little bit more crowded and a little bit more expensive through the years. The service could be horrible at the busiest times, but they still serve one of the best beef noodle soups in town. From their spring rolls to their 7 course beef special, everything is top notch.
If you find your way to Pho So 1 and it is particularly crowded, it's not a bad idea to continue west on Spring Mountain road and eat at Pho Saigon. This restaurant is newer and less established than Pho So 1 but it's culinary offerings are just as good. The service is great and there are some menu items that are not found at Pho So 1. Food lovers new to the vietnamese food scene will love the menu at Pho Saigon as it is filled with accompanying pictures. The prices are similar to Pho So 1 so you can go wrong with either one.
Can we end an Asian food article without any mention of Chinese food? Of course not! If you are in the mood for a traditional southern Chinese experience, look no further than Orchid Gardens. This is the only local restaurant that serves dim sum all day, and that is special. Dim sum, if you don't know what that is, why are you reading an article about Asian food? Look it up and go try some already. Expect to pay about $10 per person for an array of dumplings, buns, fried items, and noodles. This restaurant also boasts a more delicious and economical dinner menu than the restaurants at the local Chinatown.
Unless you have money to burn, it is best to eat at restaurants off the strip. If you are still not satisfied with the choices listed here, I encourage you to drive west from the strip on Spring Mountain Road (near TI hotel and casino and the Fashion show mall). Asian restaurants litter that street as you head westward. From Malaysian to Taiwanese to Korean fried chicken, you can have it all. Until next time, eat well and prosper!
