Reviews of Top Formula D Tire Manufacturers

Drifting the Way to the Top

Albinus See
Formula D is the America's drifting series, much like Japan's D1 Grand Prix. It is sponsored by the club Need for Speed and started in 2004. It boasts a of a club of a healthy respectable size, though still losing to NASCAR, which has the biggest league of fans and subscribers. However, being fans, they follow sponsors of their beloved team or drivers with out knowing much about the products or company themselves. They tend to purchase a certain brand because their idol is currently using it, or merchandise that they see their idol sporting. However, they do not stop to ponder over if an extra groove on a wheel really helps traction that much-or if the rubber quality is good.

As abovementioned, formula drifting is new to America, having only begun in 2004. Nevertheless, it has gained popularity steadily, many of whom have been converted into die hard fans. This has attracted sponsors like flies to honey-so that they may advertise through sponsoring racing events. While there are many types of sponsors, such as paint sponsors, body gear sponsors, helmets, and more, the most famous ones are the tire companies, who fight tooth and nail to be the sole tire sponsor for the event. The revenue they generate from fans who purchase similar tires is massive, hence the attraction for these companies.

Firstly, BF Goodrich tire is itself a popular tire brand which decided to boost its sales even more by jumping onto the tire-sponsoring-bandwagon. It already commands a large portion of the tire market, so sponsoring good tires is not a great deal for them. They gained a good reputation and familiarity with automobile users through sponsorships. Their tires are grooved differently from the rest and when it comes to high speed chases and races, they are often the first choice made by speed aficionados. Moreover, they have come out with rubber that does not melt even when subjected to heat and stress from high speed chases. Impressive indeed!

Nitto Tire is another manufacturer involved in sponsorship. However, it is not as well known as the BF Goodrich Tire Company. Nevertheless, it is a formidable opponent with a wide range of tires catering to all vehicle needs. Whether a driver needs traction, speed, grip or long lasting tires, they have it. They are reputed also for their formidable racing tires which are more durable than any on the market.

Maxxis Tires will only be known to those who are truly speed demons. They are not tires purchased by your dad or any normal guy because only racers will have heard of this obscure brand. Obscure but formidable. This is because Maxxis Tires has dedicated itself to manufacturing for high speed sports such as car races. This means it has more research and good quality tires suited for any speed. Their tires come with guarantees and service at this company is more than satisfactory.

Lastly, even though the above have a good niche in the tire market already, the best and most beloved brand is the Bridgestone Tire Company. This tire company is so successful that they have TV commercials and advertisements all over the world to boost its already titanic sales. It has the larges hold on the tire market because it spread itself from catering to auto racing to tractor farming to buses-you name it, they have it. Few other companies have the ability or patience to make such humongous tires for dirt truck or monster truck races. If you would just check, perhaps your dad is also utilizing a Bridgestone manufactured tire.

While the tire companies mentioned above are well established companies, you should also keep an eye out for up coming companies such as the Cooper Tires, Dunlop Tires and other Formula D participants. You may find one that you really personally like, and not simply hype generated by overwhelming sponsorships.
