Reviews of Top French Restaurants in Las Vegas

Las Vegas has a plethora of great restaurants. Listed below are 5 of the best when it comes to fine French dining.

Andre's French Restaurant

401 South Sixth Street

Open Tuesday-Saturday 5:30pm-10pm

One of the most respected restaurants in Las Vegas, Andres lies away from the hectic Strip, but close enough to walk to from there. Just a block away from Las Vegas Boulevard, the restaurant was once a home that was built in the 1930's. In 1980, Chef Andre turned the home into a beautiful French eatery - with several different dining rooms that can be reserved for just about any occasion.

This restaurant offers French dining at its very best, with extremely high prices on everything from the appetizers beginning around $15, to entrees that are well above the $40 area. For lower-priced options, soups and salads are, for the most part, under $15. The quality of the food is magnificent, however, and is well worth the hefty price that accompanies it.

The atmosphere is wonderful, whether you dine indoors or on the lush outdoor patio. Wherever you sit, you can feel the soft, peaceful ambiance that is great for quiet and romantic moments. The friendly, knowledgeable service tops everything off, not only eager to help with anything you need, but every member of the staff seems genuinely happy to work there.

Picasso at Bellagio

3600 South Las Vegas Blvd.

Open Wednesday-Monday 6pm-9:30pm

Whether or not you're a fan of dining in one of the casino hotels on the strip, this award-winning restaurant should not be missed - especially if you're a fan of Picasso. His original artwork makes up the decor of this place, while just outside the windows are the beautiful Bellagio fountains.

There are two main menus to choose from here - a four-course tasting menu, and a five-course prix fixe menu. Both are made up of delectable, well-presented food choices of the freshest ingredients, and paired with gourmet wines from around the world that fit outstandingly well with the food. The service is excellent, with a personable and accommodating staff that shows no sign of pretension.

Pamplemousse French Restaurant

400 East Sahara Avenue

Open Tuesday-Sunday 5:30pm-10pm

Another nice French eatery that sits away from the Strip but still close enough for those that spend their time there, Pamplemousse is a rather unique restaurant, for one reason especially - they don't have printed menus.

This may make some turn away from the idea of going here, but those that actually give it a shot will usually find it's well worth it and even love that they don't have menus. It lets the waitstaff take the time to build up a personal feel, as they verbally describe all of the extensive food choices, and have the menu in mind the entire time they are serving you.

To begin with, a complimentary platter of crudite (fresh vegetables) and dipping sauces, a bowl of eggs, and another bowl of olives is set out on every table. Pamplemousse specializes in meats such as duck and veal, and even has a lot of great seafood options to choose from. Pretty much everything tastes spectacular, and there is something for everyone. Here you can enjoy a spectacular full-course meal (appetizers, salad, bread, entrees, drinks and dessert) for around $40 a person - this is something that's very difficult to find anywhere anymore.

On top of that is the very cozy, romantic atmosphere, with fresh flowers and a lit candle on each table. The servers are very kind and attentive, great at explaining the menu in detail, and are prompt and efficient without hovering over the table.

Joël Robuchon at the Mansion

3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South
MGM Grand Hotel

Open Sunday-Thursday 5:30pm-10pm; Friday-Saturday 5:30pm-10:30pm

If you've got the money to spend, be sure to check out this fine restaurant in the MGM Grand Hotel. With beautiful velvet decor, black marble, and gorgeous chandeliers, it looks like a replication of a fine restaurant from the 30's.

The specialties here happen to be a 6-course Tasting menu for $225, or a 16-course Tasting Menu for $350, providing decent portions of delicious French cuisine. Over 750 expensive wines are available, with some American reds that are older than the World War II era, and many types of champagne. There is also an a la carte menu if you want to order items individually.

The atmosphere provided is of elegance, allowing for romantic moments and quiet conversation. There is also a private dining room with a landscaped indoor garden. Even the bathrooms are beautifully decorated.

The staff here is very efficient, making guests feel comfortable and doing a great job when it comes to pairing wines to the food.

MIX

3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Mandalay Bay Resort

Open 6pm-11pm daily.

Another very pricey restaurant on the Strip, the MIX is also well worth it if it can be afforded. Sitting on the penthouse floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort, this establishment provides one of the best views of the Strip.

French and American cuisines make this place, with delicious starters that may be enough for a meal in themselves, and very filling entrees. The average amount that's spent here is around $100 a person, with appetizers beginning around $20, fish and meats around $40, and sides at $11. Definitely Vegas-style pricing, but the cost is very worth the quality of food you get.

Service is also great, with a waitstaff that seems like they truly care about each customer's comfort and does their best to stay prompt without becoming too intrusive.
