Reviewstream lies and why they are lies:
You can write a review about anything: You can write a review about anything but they won't acknowledge everything. I have personally tested this and the truth is, they only pay until they don't feel like paying for the reviews anymore.
Here is an example: I wrote several reviews on some online courses that I had taken. I did the courses individually because each course was very different and merited a separate review. I put it under the education category and the site automatically accepted the review for the $2.50 payments. A day later, I went to my account and found that they had removed all of those reviews from being published and debited my account for the money. I then saw that there were notes left for me. I was told very specifically that "you have to review it in general, not by courses, pages or paragraphs." That's all fine and good. I wasn't sure what the pages and paragraphs was about, but by courses? That is a product and I was reviewing that education product. If it is true that I cannot do that, why do they say that you can review anything. Therefore, the statement by the site that you can review anything and get paid for it is an absolute lie. (I can back this up as I have kept all correspondence between me and reviewstream).
Sometimes you will get paid bulk rate: Bulk rate is currently 50 cents and the full rate is currently $2.50. There is a big difference in the two. The site claims, through stating "sometimes" your will get paid the bulk rate, that you will get $2.50 for most reviews. This is a lie and probably one of the biggest ones. It is extremely hard to figure out how to get the $2.50 rate on this site. Most reviews will be given the 50 cent rate. There is never a rhyme or reason why you get any particular rate either. You can write one review and get paid the bulk rate, write another very similar one and get the full rate and yet another one that gets completely rejected. They make it impossible to figure it out. Chances are you will get the bulk rate and chances are if you write too many reviews and they get tired of paying you, they will start to remove the published reviews and debit your account so they don't have to pay you.
Reviews take 72 hours to review: 72 hours would be an inaccurate time frame considering that each day, if the review isn't processed yet, they change the date to the next day so it looks like you just loaded it to the site. It can take far longer than 72 hours to get the reviews processed so that you know what is going on with it. This is fraud at it's best. You can't keep changing the date on the reviews just because you want to. It's a bad business practice to lie to people who are making you money. The 72 hour mark is incredibly wrong and they should not be advertising as such when it is an out and out lie.
That covers the worst of Review Stream lies, but there is so much more to dislike about this site. The site is horrible in my opinion and to be honest, I am not sure how someone has not sued them for not just being misleading, but for the out and out lies that make the site an ultimate scam.
Examples of what makes this site horrible:
Rude- This has got to be one of the most rude bunch of people that I have encountered on the internet considering it is a business that wants to make money. They talk to the writer's as though they were a bunch of idiots. For example: The above name articles that I wrote were about an online learning course. I didn't include the URL but had put that you have to go through your local community college to sign up for the courses. You can't just go to the site and sign up. I got a note stating "Obviously, if you are writing about a website you need to include the URL." I wrote to them and told them that they obviously hadn't read the review or they would know why I didn't include the URL. Besides the fact that it clearly states in their spotty rules that you are NEVER to put a URL in any part of the review. They can't make up their minds. In any case, this is the most rude bunch of people that I have ever encountered in a website that pays people to write.
Appearance of the site- Review Stream is one of the most unprofessional looking sites that I have encountered in a long time. It is scattered and it isn't very clear. The suggestion you get is always the same. It will tell you that your review isn't specific enough and so they won't pay you for it or they will give you bulk rate for it. This could be any review even if you have so many details about it that there is no way that it isn't specific enough. The only rule that is made clear is the one that states that all reviews have to be exclusive to that site. It is the most ridiculous site I have ever encountered. To top it off, you don't even sign up for it. You just use your email address. There is no password or anything. In other words, if someone wanted to do damage to a writer's account in Review Stream, the only thing they have to have is their email address. They claim it is more secure that way, but I have yet to figure out how they have come to that conclusion.
Pay Out- I will be fair and say that I did make a good amount of money the first few weeks that I wrote for Review Stream and I did actually receive the funds in my PayPal account. It was very short lived though. Review Stream didn't want to continue to pay me for the reviews and that is when the problem came in. They suggested that I take a break because I wrote about specific courses that I took. I would suggest that they not advertise that you can write about anything and be more specific about what reviews they will and will not take. Those reviews were originally published at the full rate and then rescinded for no real reason at all. That makes pay out unreliable and the website a scam. They suck you in, take your work and then in the end, they will rip you off for money that you definitely earned.
Review Stream is one of the worst sites that I have written to. I had reservations when I started writing reviews but wanted to give it a fair shot. When it comes down to it, I have learned, yet again, that I should always trust my instincts. This site is a scam waiting to happen. They may not scam you when you first start writing reviews, but if you have a lot of reviews that you can write and they have to pay out for it, you will find out exactly what kind of a scam it truly is. I would suggest that you stay far away from this site, especially if you are a freelance writer. There are far too many reliable websites that you can write for that will not put you through all the lies and deceit and then treat you as rude as they possibly can in the process. This is not a good site to write for.

Post a CommentOK, I reread your article, and I see what you mea.
I am sill saying that is not a scam, properly speaking.
But I do think you should report them.
By definition, a "scam" is a set-up to lure people and (usually) trick them out of their money, an enterprise that has no intention of doing what it says it does, in this case paying for reviews.
I wrote a series of reviews for them (as a part of an investigative assignment, unbeknownst to them). I got my payment about an hour after pressing the "request money" (or whatever it was called) button. I was paid by them two or three times. No hassle.
I know another person who wrote for them. Same thing. She got the money as soon as she requested it.
So... how are they a "scam"?
Of course I am sorry for anyone who has had an unpleasant experience with them, but a scam they are not.
To anyone thinking about writing for ReviewStream; I've just checked, and the current "regular" rate is 1,50 $.
Also, keep in mind they are not particularly pleasant to work "with". There's an odd quasi-autistic streak to theose people and their communication skills.
But a scam?
I don't think so.
Angel, there is a difference in returning a product and saying you are going to pay someone for something, pay them and then take the money back. I am not the only one this has happened to. They accepted the reviews and then decided they didn't want to pay for them, bottom line. I am sure that you must be on staff there or something?
Kay, The best sites to go with that pay and are very reliable about it are Associated Content and Helium, those are the ones that I have been with for quite some time now. I have always been paid what they said they were going to pay and neither one has EVER taken back a payment that they already sent to my account. There are other legitimate sites that I have heard of but I don't have experience with them so I cannot comment. I hope that helps. Reviewstream is not the way to go if you want to assure that they are paying you for what they say they are paying you for.
Ok, so after reading all the comments I am unsure of which way to go. There are so many freelance writer sites; Can anyone more experienced give me a valid openion as to which may be the best, most ligit, and most profitable?
"A day later, I went to my account and found that they had removed all of those reviews from being published and debited my account for the money."
And what's the problem with that ? Didn't you return your purchases to the sellers, if you were not satisfied with them ? It works the same way. You sold them something they're not satisfied with and they have all the rights to return it back to you and to get the money they paid back. It doesn't make them a scam.
Thanks for writing this! I almost signed up with reviewstream a couple of months ago, but I got a bad feeling about it. It definitly sounds like a scam to me.
Yes Anthony, it is messed up.... And if you do a search on Google for reviews on review stream, you will see that there are a lot of other people that feel this way about them and if you read their articles, you will see that they all say pretty much the same thing.
lol I've been paid once. I don't see why they should do that to people thats seriously messed up.
And aren't you one of their staff?????? If you read the article, you would know what I was talking about.
