Reviw of Marvel Comics Universe X Spidey

This one shot which ties into Marvel Comics Universe X it is a nice single story about the daughter of Peter Parker, Spider-Man. She has all the powers, and later she got the symbiote which Peter felt was controlling her. They parted on bad terms because of this. A father who can't trust his daughter can't be much of a father.

At a police meeting May notices her father is acting off and decides to investigate. She discovers he is under the control of Spidersman. She goes into Peter's mind at the suggestion of the symbiote to try and free him. She discovers a world her father has created. A world where he is old, retired and laughing it up with friends and family. His family of course being his wife Gwen and his son Ben who is currently Spider-Man. Harry Osborne is also there with his wife Mary Jane.

Peter assumes when he sees his daughter that it is Venom and springs into action. Which leads to us seeing how perfect his world is. Captain Stacey wasn't killed, Spider-Man saved him, which later led to him arresting Norman Osborne as the Green Goblin. Since the Green Goblin was in jail he didn't kill Gwen who Peter later went on to marry. This "perfect world" upsets May because she isn't a part of it and it makes her mother seem like a 2nd choice. Once May learns that she wasn't wanted she kicks the shit out of Spidersman just when she is about to kill him Peter snaps out of it and stops her.

Peter sees the flaws in his "perfect world" and realizes that once he saw his daughter he didn't want that world any more. The main question that plagues Peter is why didn't he stop the robber and save Uncle Ben? Even in his dream world he still became Spider-Man out of guilt. Maybe the world needs a Spider-Man... The art is better than Earth X because you can tell what you are looking at. It is still in the same style, but the ink isn't all over the place. The story is solid a fluid which makes this great for fans of the series or just Spider-Man. It also really brings a lacking depth to Spider-Man which is constantly being over looked by current writers. This is a must read.
