Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick Review

A Review

Nowadays, people can't be bothered fixing up their lip stick or lip gloss every 5 minutes. People are too busy! And so comes in the invention of lipsticks and glosses that last for hours on end, reducing the need for ladies to run to the toilet every few mintues for a

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick promises to "stay comfortable and weas beautifully for up to 12 hours" in a "one-step application- No topcoat required for comfortable wear". It also claims to never "feather or fade; no touch-ups required, even after meals".

The color I'm reviewing here is 'Superb Sangria', a bit of a mouthful. It's a beautiful dark coral red. In the bottle, it looks really dark, almost like a plum/mauve. But when you put it on, it's a beautiful deep coral red, and it's not dark at all. It looks great on all skin tones because it's an orange based red. The pigmentation is amazing, a little thin coat will make your lips very red. Another great red shade from this set is Top Tomato, a bright red, or Regal Rose, a pink-purple red.

While this liquid lipstick is drying, it's a bit sticky, but all long-lasting glosses tend to be. Before using this, I recommend moisturizing and exfoliating your lips, because it is very drying and it will accentuate dry or peeling lips. While it's drying it has an odd smell, but that disappears when it's fully dry.

The color on my lips didn't last for 12 hours - hardly! It lasted for around 4-5 hours before I needed a touch up. But those 4 hours were very impressive, there was no feathering, moving or fading, and there were no clumps around my mouth. It lasted through hours of my drinking, eating and talking, and I never shut up! This makes it the perfect gloss for an event where you can't touch up your gloss every few minutes, or even perfect for a casual coffee with friends.

It didn't crease either; one of the major issues for me with long lasting lip colors, when the color becomes like a sheet over your lips, so it just cracks and creases every time you move your lips. There was a bit of rubbing of the color, after a few hours I noticed that the color came off if I rubbed my lips. My lips felt very dry, but it helps if you add some lip balm.

Revlon claims to "make the touch-up history", but I think that any type of lip gloss or lip stick needs a touch up at least every few hours. You can go for a few hours without worrying about this gloss, but it's still noticeably there, and depending on what you're doing, you'll almost certainly need to touch-up. It isn't really lip gloss if you don't!
