Revlon Matte Eye Shadow in "Peach Sorbet": A Review

The Pen
After seeing a Revlon ad for their new Matte makeup collection I decided to try out one of their new matte lipsticks. I had good results so when I saw the eye shadows in the collection at CVS I decided to try two. I bought one in the Aubergine shade and one in Peach Sorbet for $4.99 each.

I wasn't really sure about how either color would look on me, I'm a black girl with a golden brown skin tone and I sort of felt like the Peach Sorbet would be too light for me but I just wanted to try a new shade and hoped for the best.

The Revlon Matte eye shadows come in a standard square black compact and inside the Peach Sorbet doesn't look like a true peach color; it's more of a pale beigey peach like the color of peach ice cream. Revlon claims that the eye shadow is a "suede-like powder that glides over eye lids." And that it "provides high impact color with a soft matte finish."

When I got home I tried on the Peach Sorbet eye shadow and I realized that the powder does glide over your eyes. It's really soft and easy to blend. It also created a soft suede-like finish on my eyes that looks sophisticated and classy. I didn't think the Peach Sorbet color was all that high-impact though because the color is so soft and dainty.

But I was right the Revlon Matte Shadow in Peach Sorbet definitely didn't work for me. I have brown skin and the peach shade made my eyelids look like I was wearing a concealer that was too light on top of them.

It just looked really weird and chalky especially in the inner corner of my eyelids where the beginnings of my dark under-eye circles start to form. I also tried to use this Revlon Matte Eye Shadow in the crease of my eye and it still looked odd and unnatural. The only place it looked halfway decent was when I used it to highlight the area underneath my brow bones but that's about it.

In The End...

The Revlon Matte Eye Shadows are great eye shadows for a soft sophisticated finish. However the Peach Sorbet color is definitely not one for anyone with dark skin or even tanned skin, as it tends to look chalky. I would only recommend this shade to fair skinned red-heads or blondes .

Anyone who doesn't fit this category should try the darker and more vibrant eye shadows that Revlon Matte has to offer, like the Aubergine shade which did work for me
